Re: Bundy Ranch, BLM, Harry Reid and the Chinese
I thought some years ago I read about a law stating that the government cannot own a larger percentage of a state's land unless it is producing something to benefit the state economically? IOW, the land can't just lay fallow or it goes back to the state. Does anyone recall reading something on that?

The more I read about this case, the more I wonder why this rancher is being heralded as some kind of hero. It seems he isn't. It seems he just has a problem with paying the feds anything.
He seems very wrong.
Glad Obama had enough forsight to not let spiral out of control to become another Waco.

obama didn't have anything to do with it.
***Edit
According to the blaze article, it's public land, but NV gave control of its public land to the feds when they joined the union. Weird that NV would sign their rights away like that. I wonder how many other states have the same deal with the feds.

The facts dont support it.
Reid and his son, Rory, were both deeply involved in a deal with the Chinese-owned ENN Energy Group to build a $5 billion solar farm in Laughlin, Nevada. But that is roughly 177 miles away from Bundys 150-acre ranch in Bunkerville, Nev., and 213 miles from the federally owned Gold Butte area where Bundy s cattle graze, according to Google Maps.

There were documents on BLM website which Dana Loesch wrote about that the land the Bundy cattle are grazing on was also under consideration for the Chinese energy company. Yes, they already have plans for Laughlin, NV, as well as other western states, including AZ; however, the land the Bundy cattle was on also was a target.
****Edit, the blaze article references this, but dismisses it as a deal which was shelved and isn't an option anymore.

David, This article by Reuters in 2012 is saying the plant project would have been IN Clark County. So, the Blaze could be wrong about that.
Quote:
U.S. Senator Reid, son combine for China firm's desert plant
Reid has been one of the project's most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project in Nevada. His son, a lawyer with a prominent Las Vegas firm that is representing ENN, helped it locate a 9,000-acre (3,600-hectare) desert site that it is buying well below appraised value from Clark County, where Rory Reid formerly chaired the county commission.

Yes, that quote was in an earlier post of mine up top. Blaze could be correct in that it this was a project, but was shelved or no longer under consideration.

Re: Bundy Ranch, BLM, Harry Reid and the Chinese
Just finished watching Brett Baier and this Bundy guy and his family are CROOKS!
They have already lost three Appeals through the court system.
The land (in question) has been Federal land since Nevada became a state.
The people who are supporting him physically are no different from the "Occupy Wall St" crowd-- rebels without a TRUE cause and breaking the law, obstructing interstate traffic, interfering with law enforcement operations!
Man, do you believe these guys had snipers placed and aimed at the Federal Officers who were exercising a legally binding court order to confiscate the cattle of Bundy!
Occupy Wall St never had SNIPERS AIMED AT LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS!
The likes of this guy makes me angry!
This isn't about states rights! This is about GREED!
Shame on Cliven Bundy and shame on his WICKED FAMILY!
He's no PATRIOT and neither are his whacko supporters!
Yes, I called them WHACKOS! The whole lot of 'em!

Dude,
The BLM is a federal law enforcement body. Had those law enforcement officers open fire on the criminals that were obstructing their abilities to carry out their court order protected confiscation of the cattle, you would be calling them thugs and connecting them to the Obama Administration somehow.
You know this is true!

Uhm, the BLM thugs had snipers on the ranch...not the other way around. There are photos to prove it. Clive Bundy told people to keep their guns away and not be armed.
They aren't crooks, you just don't understand the situation. And of course to you, this administration can do no wrong.

They are thugs. Tasing unarmed protesters, trying to force people into a small "constitution free speech zone" and shoving a pregnant woman to the ground. All of which was caught on video.
Thugs.

No bro.
The snipers were Bundy supporters, according to Brett Baier.
Baier's story spoke about and showed most of the Bundy supporters as being armed and outnumbering the feds.
