The TRUTH of the matter is, all this political gamesmanship between 'their team and our team' is a bunch of baloney. It appears to me Hillary Clinton has been selected to be the next President, the GOP was designed to fail ever since Shrub's last days of glory, it's all part of a Big Plan, and YOU and I ain't in on it.

Amy Fried, the author of your article - She's been an advocate for church-state separation and other civil liberties issues. She writes on the neoconservative mind, women's issues, media, veganism and the Religious Right. Not biased much is she? I wouldn't be surprised to find out she is also an atheist. lol

We certainly shall see. I would like to point out this particular sentence in the article - "Despite overwhelming public support, gun control is dead."
The "gun control" issue is dead because the American people don't want it. That is a huge indication of where this country stands, regardless of MSM - they stand on the side of the Constitution.
Today Obama is saying that we need to ignore the bloggers and talking heads. That is where we find freedom from the narrative of the MSM. He doesn't want us to speak our minds and share our views. The 1st Amendment is power to the people.

I did not quote Amy Fried. I quoted Ezra Klein. Please read the post.
I could care less who she is.
Did Ezra Klein lie? Were the points made false?
Did the dems get what they wanted? Did the GOP cave completely?
Simply dismissing the truth doesn't make it go away.

Re: What Has GOP Accomplished????
Here's the original. Obviously, if a democrat quotes a reporter, it must be a lie. So here's the original report -
http://bangordailynews.com/2013/10/1...to-invent-him/
Quote:
A true cynic about American politics would, at this point, be forced to one conclusion: Sen. Ted Cruz is a Democratic sleeper agent.
It is tough to appreciate just how much good Ted Cruz has done the Democrats over these last few weeks.
He convinced Republicans to shut down the government rather than wait and fight over the debt ceiling, where they would have had more — and more dangerous — leverage.
He splintered the Republican Party such that, from day one, it was clear that the GOP leadership opposed the strategy they were executing, and GOP senators were publicly blasting House Republicans. That also cut the GOP’s leverage.
He made this a fight over defunding Obamacare, which polls showed was a wildly unpopular reason to shut down the government, and which united Democrats against him.
He shut the government down on Oct. 1, the same day Obamacare began, thus distracting the American people from the law’s catastrophic rollout.
He drove the Republican Party to its lowest levels of popularity ever recorded in polls.
He actually managed to make Obamacare more popular at a time when, by all rights, the law’s extremely troubled launch should’ve been eroding its standing in the polls.
The culmination of the strategy, today, is that Republicans are reopening the government and raising the debt ceiling in return for…nothing.

Honestly, it looks to me like the stage is being set - the GOP will run another 'unelectable' candidate - ie, a candidate that conservatives will be divided on.
Thus securing the pretense of a democratic win.
It's all smoke and mirrors though, the voting machines make the difference.

The Democrats rejecting Collins' deal had nothing to do with Ted Cruz. The Dems didn't want to lock in sequestration levels of spending for six months. The old CR locked it in for six weeks. They can't get rid of sequestration, but they also don't want to agree with it.
They also felt like the delaying of the Medical Device Tax was holding them hostage and forcing a concession to reopen the government.
Again, none of that had to do with Senator Ted Cruz and Mike Lee standing on principle, honesty and honor to the American people.
Susan Collins is a Rhino and not fit to tie Ted Cruz's shoelace.

Do you know who Ezra Klein is? He worked on Howard Dean's primary campaign and contributes political commentary to who? - Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell.
Why in the world would I care what Ezra Klein has to say? He's a liberal Jew.
And you might find this article interesting, BTW.

Mark Levin was right when he once stated they are "sell-outs".

Re: What Has GOP Accomplished????
Another point on Susan Collins being a Rhino- she crafts a deal "raising" the debt ceiling. Sen. Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul knew that it was scare mongering on the Dems part.
As Rand Paul stated - “If you don’t raise the debt ceiling that means you won’t have a balanced budget, it doesn’t mean you wouldn’t pay your bills.”

Brit trying to salvage his Rhino self.
Quote:
Brit Hume: Tea Party Arose from GOP Establishment Failure to Restrain Govt. Spending
Those who support Cruz also do not want to see a GOP that simply manages the decline of America and revolted against the crony capitalistic domestic programs of President George W. Bush's administration and the Republican Congress in the 2000s in which many so-called conservatives came to Washington to change it and got changed by it. Or, as those like Palin and the Government Accountability Institute's Peter Schweizer have said, they saw Washington's cesspool as a big jacuzzi.

Yes and Yes. Then again, the majority of the GOP would have passed the CR without a shut down and raised the debt ceiling, IMO. The Bush GOP likes to spend as much as any Democrat.
