The day of a foot washing service I try to go barefoot as much as possible so the person washing my feet will really be humbled to the max. I feel it is the least I can do.

OK, I'm sure this will not surprise anyone, but, for me, as a kid, watchnight services were horrible! Pure torture. Dullest night of the whole year!
Later, in youth (and Campus Life), it wasn't so bad. No, the watchnight services didn't get better or more bearable. We just didn't go! Had our own New Years Eve events. Fun, games. And yes, some singing and some praying... but not hours on end! And when 12 stuck, guess what. We all got to yell "Happy New Year"! Try that at a watchnight service and see what happens.

You better believe they were screaming Happy New year. It was nearly 1 when I left and they were still going strong. Too much for us old folks but I think they stayed until about 3.
