I read about this this morning at around 3am, for some reason I was up. I don't think the issue of race truly matters here in regards to the Florida Stand Your Ground Law. I've done some pretty extensive research on that law and personally find it to just be a bad law. Don't get me wrong I'm a staunch self-defense advocate and all for the Castle Doctrine and so on, but it's just too broad and open and unexplained for my taste. It's a strange law, and very well could lead to this man not being convicted and Mr. Zimmerman as well. Both cases are tragic, the loss of young lives is ALWAYS tragic regardless of the color of their skin, and it is all the more common in this reckless and sinful age we live in.

The tragedy in general is that too many young black males die, and die so unnecessarily, regardless of who's killing them. Of course that goes for ALL young males these days, but it is a special tragedy in the black community. There's only one solution to the problem though, and that's the preached word of God and true deliverance. But there's not enough power and truth being taught in the church to reach these young men, even/especially in the Apostolic church. The church is ignoring a lost generation...

A young African American was killed by an Hispanic in Florida and we saw who the real racists were. They were President Obama, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, the African American legislators, the Black Panthers and others who demanded that the Hispanic (they called him white) man be killed, even offering a reward for his murder and posting his address (turned out it was the wrong address).

To be fair, Obama, Al Sharpton, Jackson, and AA Congressmen did not demand the man be killed neither did they offer a reward for his murder. I know that's not what you meant but you kind of lumped them all up into one sentence, so I just wanted to clarify that one point. I'll agree that those did jump the gun on the Martin case. There were people on both sides that didn't exactly use their best judgment. That's typical in a racially heated debate, the sad thing about it is race shouldn't have been in the discussion in the first place. It doesn't matter if either Martin or Davis were black, white, hispanic, or Jewish... they died tragically. The Martin case was a misunderstanding that shouldn't have happened (not to hang Mr. Zimmerman but regardless of how you see it a 17 year old life gone is tragic).

Fact: Victim was playing his music very loudly in his car as he pumped his gas.
Fact: The Supreme Court has established the right of this victim to play his music loudly.
Fact: Perpetrator approched the victim about the loudness of his music.
Fact: Conversation between victim and perpetrator yielded unsatisfactory results for the perpetrator.
Fact: Victim was killed in a public place.
Fact: Perpetrator fled the scene after committing the murder.
Fact: Police arrived and did not find any weapons, specifically a shotgun, on the person of the victim and not on the person or in the vehicle of the people he was with.
Fact: Perpetrator was apprehended several hours south and east of the crime scene and was arrested.
Fact: Victim was a young black male, a kid.
Fact: Perpetrator was an older white male, a full grown, mentally and physically mature, adult.


The style of music was probably a big factor-- which may or may not point back to the race of the victim. I live here in Florida and my gut feeling is that race was involved-- specifically race coupled with style of music.

Whatever the perpetrator's motivation, he thought he could get away with his murder and is now using the courts to defend his murder of a 17 yr old youth, who was doing something that many, many, many young people do on a regular basis.


Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law allows for these kinds of murders and this case could be indicative of a trend, indicative of a mindset that believes that one can kill whoever one wants, whenever one wants for whatever reason one wants and claim self defense.

Please explain how SYG makes a difference here. If there was a shotgun threat, the shooting was likely justified regardless. If not, it was unjustified regardless.

If you are comparing this to Travon Martin and those that believed the shooting was justified under Florida's laws in self defense, you are seriously deluded.

If TM attacked Z then legally Z had a right to shoot. There is no Florida law that allows someone to shoot or kill over loud music.

This is just more race baiting IMO. If the kid was white or Latino or Asian few would make a big deal out of it
