Jesus said its better to cut your hand off than commit a sin. Jesus said better to put your eye out than to use it to commit a sin and go to Hell. People dont like that Jesus. They thinks its legalistic. It doesnt fit the nicey once saved always saved false grace doctrines of today.
I think one reason there is silence about Hell is many modern Christians percieve they may be going there.
So, Jesus is recommending body mutilation???? Come on, Michael?

And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. 43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off : it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched . 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off : it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched . 47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out : it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
I was asking you. From what you posted, it seems that you think I am. I figured you were referring to unbelievers.
But since you asked: no, I'm not. But then, IMO, I'm not lost, either.
Quote:
Because they have not found the narrow gate, called LIFE, look around you how many have found Life???
Everyone who's been alive, I guess. I'm alive. But I have a feeling your definition of "life" is not the same as mine.
Quote:
It is simple, it is straight, yet it is hard for so many, I don't understand why???
Seriously?
Quote:
You think right and wrong, at its very basic is not clearly defined?
It's very unclearly defined in the Bible. This cannot be denied seriously, as anyone who has read much of AFF would attest, and in the bigger Christian world there is even more argument and confusion about what is right and what is wrong.
Outside the religious world, it's not as difficult.

I couldn't structure this response as I wanted, but maybe you can figure it out??
No.

Hebrews 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty
Just recently I started to find out that most christians
have no idea about what hell is REALLY like.
I guess there's no preaching about hell...or/and... they
don't read their bibles.
Dear soul,
Hear the cry of the rich man pleading for his brethren,
knowing that for himself it is eternally too late.
How he longs that he may dip the tip of his finger in water,
and cool his tongue
but even that simplest longing will be denied.
On the earth, the rich man was clothed in purple
and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day,
yet all the wealth he had in his lifetime
could not buy him eternal security for his soul.
The souls of the lost will remember with remorse
the opportunities they had to accept Jesus as their Savior.
They will look back with regret and deep sorrow in their hearts.
Oh, to be handed a gospel tract,
for someone to care for their soul!
But now, there is a great gulf fixed
that neither can pass to the other side.
Tonight, while reading this letter,
someone's mother, father, sister, brother or dearest friend
will slip into eternity only to meet their decision in hell.
Death for the unbeliever
is just the beginning of unimaginable agony
that shall afflict body, mind and soul.
Unprepared are they to meet God!
Imagine receiving a letter like this from one of your loved ones.

Imagine receiving a letter like this from one of your loved ones.
Written by a young man to his God fearing mother.
He died and went to Hell...
Let it not be said of you!
Yes Hell is going to be bad. I dont think we die and then immediately go to Hell. There is a day of judgment where man will be resurrected to their eternal fate.
One reason Hell is totally ignored is people have made it into what it is not. It will be bad, cast into the lake of fire for divine retribution.
But it will come to an end. The Old and New Testament teach the wages of sin is death. Not immortality in Hell.
The phrase "forever and ever" is used both of describing God's eternal worth and the duration of eternal damnation.
Thats like a Trinitarian jumping to Matt. 28:19 as a proof text without understanding other scriptural foundations. I believed Hell would be for trillions of never ending ages for 16 years myself. Then I noticed this and it got me studying.
28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matt. 10:28
Jesus believed the soul would be destroyed in Hell.
BTW in the Hebrew language "for ever" is described as THREE DAYS on one occasion.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. Jonah 2:6
Yeshua said Jonah was there for 3 days.
