Re: Abortion/ Same Sex Marriage/ Birth Control
Is welfare forcing beliefs on others?

Re: Abortion/ Same Sex Marriage/ Birth Control
Perhaps to a degree because it forcefully takes money from people to give to others.
Used to be churches gave alms to the poor. I wonder what happened to that?
People willingly gave to help the poor...it was not taken from them by mandate.

Re: Abortion/ Same Sex Marriage/ Birth Control
Let me ask you a question.
Do you think it is ok for church members to sit on Pentecostal pews receiving welfare?

I don't think there should be any government welfare...
However, seeing that is what we have, and the system that is used to help the poor, I have no problem with church members being on welfare.
Now I am not in favor of welfare fraud, but that's a different question, really.

Yes, it is what we have.
Does it relieve the church members from giving alms to people within their belief system?

To a degree I think it does, but not entirely. And I don't think our obligations cease beyond our belief system.

Somehow I felt you have character and compassion.

Re: Abortion/ Same Sex Marriage/ Birth Control
I believe it is obligatory for us as individuals and for our churches as groups to feed, clothe, and house the needy. I do not believe it is a function of government.

Re: Abortion/ Same Sex Marriage/ Birth Control
Brother Sam, when I use the term "welfare" I am speaking of government assistance.
