Re: Dick Clark Dies at 82

I'm 39 Jay... and even at my age, the extent that I know of him is about 5 minutes that the news would show of him from Times Square on New Years. My baptist parents taught us to never listen to any secular music, so no American Bandstand, and we were always in church on New Years Eve.... but I always knew from the News that he had a big thing on New Years eve and they would show footage of the countdown...

So that's all I know of him....

Re: Dick Clark Dies at 82

1. Was Dick Clark baptized into the triune formula "Lord Jesus Christ"?

2. Did he at some time in the past receive the birth/baptism/filling of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by speaking with tongues?

3. Did he maintain a "fresh" experience with God by speaking with tongues on a daily basis?

4. Did he eschew tobacco and liquor products?

5. Did his shirt sleeves always come to his wrists and did his pant legs always come to the tops of his shoes?

6. Did he meticulously avoid any facial hair and keep the hair on his head form touching?

7. Did he hold to an approved doctrinal teaching of "oneness" or "the Mighty God in Christ"?

8. Did he faithfully and meticulously give at least 15 percent of his gross income to a UPC church?

9. Did he avoid the use of "makeup" and/or anything that would alter his natural appearance?

10. Was he at his death a member in good standing at a UPC church?

If he was guilty of any of the above, he could be considered guilty of all of the above and his eternal soul was indeed in jeopardy of eternal punishment in the flames of hell.

Either that or he is currently hosting the Great American Bandstand in the sky at this moment.

Didn't Dick Clark promote "rock and roll" music which would be considered by all true holiness folks to be "the devil's heart beat"?

what would pentecostal music sound like without the influence of jazz and rock n roll?

I remember the game show "Pyramids" he was host of. That was a fun game.
Seems like he hosted some blooper type show one time too.
Well, even still, whether the age thing comes into play or not, I don't remember him from American Bandstand; I'm in my early 30s. But, as I said, I remember him from the numerous NYE festivities on TV. Anyone else my age or otherwise, I would think, knows DC from just NYE alone...

Ya, I barely remember American Bandstand but even if I was older at the time it just simply was not the type of show I would ever watch. And I never watched MTV, even when it was the new hip thing to do during the 80's.

I had to sneak around to watch...beginning when it was on 5 days a week.

They had everyone on and played every type of music...Aretha, Temptations, Little Stevie, etc.

Paul Anka, Bobby Rydell, Dion, Fabian, Lesley Gore...

Paul Revere and the Raiders, DC Five, Dusty Springfield, Frankie Cannon...

On and on...I don't think the Beatles ever did Bandstand, and I'm not sure of the Stones. But most everyone who was anyone on the charts back in the day was on.
