We are more divided now than ever.
In the early 80's, my best friend was black.
I spent a lot of time at his house and neighborhood and never thought anything about it.
I also spent a lot of time on various basketball courts in the 80's and 90's, where I was the only "white", (even though I am multi-racial, I look white), and never had an issue.
It's not that way anymore.
And I am not sure where it turned.
I grew up in a multi-cultural environment and no one ever thought anything about race.
God help us to break down these walls.

The gunmen were caught--two men. Jake England, 19, and Alvin Watts, 32. Jake's father was shot a couple of years ago, allegedly by a black man (although the accused is in prison on entirely different charges) and Jake's fiancee also died in January. Apparently this was a catalyst to what happened on Friday. Definitely not an EXCUSE, though--people suffer terrible loss all the time. It doesn't mean they can go around shooting innocent people.

"Today is two years that my dad has been gone shot by a f****** n*****. it's hard not to go off. between that and sheran I'm gone in the head."
This one from Friday at 10:15 p.m.:
"I do believer it just mite be the time to call it quits I I hate to say it like that but I'm done if something does happen tonite be ready for another funeral later."

Alvin Watts' fb page is still up. If you look at his Wall, his posts will tell you that he was not the type to help anyone in a positive way--nor was he very bright. Violent + stupid = dangerous.

This is a very shocking crime in our community, but in all fairness, Tulsa crime rate has been going up, up, up in recent years. It's the nature of the crime that makes it shocking. Tulsa is not a city I would want to live in [anymore]. I like having a big city close by, but I'm happy to live in the *metro area.*
