Because they can not Make an egg. They are taking the Egg of an Elephant and combining it with the rDNA from a Mammoth. Thus you have 1/2 Elephant and 1/2 Mammoth. Then you do the same thing with the 1/2 breed, and you get a 3/4 breed. Then again and get 7/8th. Then continue the fractions until the Elephant DNA is gone and you have a 99.9% Mammoth.

That's not really cloning, then, as I understand it. Still, pretty cool!

Where'd you get that? The article says "They will transplant nuclei from the bone marrow cells into elephant egg cells whose nuclei were removed through a type of cloning." That's not 1/2 elephant, that's all mammoth.

I think you just had a revelation!! I too would like to see this of course out of curiosity. I was walking a creek two years ago and found a mammoth tooth.
It would of had BIG dental bills if it were around today.

I probably didn't even read it in this particular article. It has always been the plan to use the egg of a living elephant to start the process, but perhaps cloning has advanced since then.

Re: Scientiest May Clone Mammoth

Jesus is trying to clone us from the inside out. So far down through time it hasn't worked perfectly yet because everyone is dead. Maybe in the near future, I'm waiting..
