I'd have no problem with buying and moving into that house, but I am not sure that I would purposely push hard to profit from such a tragedy.
Let me get this straight... You would prefer the family selling it off to you at a premium, rather than full disclosure and a 50% price reduction.
Lol! You need your head screwed on right - or just plan to rent forever.

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945

NO! And here's why. Some Dallas area folks might remember the Darlie Routier case 15 years ago, where she was convicted of murdering one of her two young sons...
If that doesn't send chills up one's back, I don't know what would. I drove by the house a few years after it happened, and got a very sickly feeling knowing what happened there...
So, again, NO! I would not move into a house where a murder had previously taken place, ever...
I might think about it, but most of it would depend on when the murder had taken place. For $5.00, I would probably do it, and if necessary would draft family and friends to help me get the place ready for occupation.

It really depends on how long ago it took place. For instance the owners of the Lizzie Bordon house have made a pretty profitable bed and breakfast out of it.
