Re: Yoga Sutra I.12

I have a liberal arts education, have studied world religions in college.
I'm not afraid of reading literature from other traditions
If you don't understand not only the bible, but greek mythology, you can't make sense out of much of the literature of Western Civilization.
It doesn't change my beliefs, I'm a Oneness Pentecostal 3 stepper.

Re: Yoga Sutra I.12

I also have a rudimentary understanding of Grecio-Roman mythology, as well as a smattering of Egyptian myths as well. I have also gained a slight understanding of Hinduism, Buddism, Taoism, and Confusionism. However, as I a person who will only master a few subjects completely, I am not as well versed as what others would be.

I agree that an understanding of their beliefs and practices might be benificial, but attempting to use them to gain spiritual insight is a path pitted by peril. Often, those who practice these religions and advance to the higher insights become filled with demonic spirits. That is the end of any religion that does not embrace the God of the Bible.
