Geico cavemen may get own TV series
ABC says it has ordered a pilot for a comedy based on insurance ad mascots

NEW YORK - Those Geico “cavemen” shouldn’t be so upset after all — they may get their own television series.

ABC said Friday it had ordered a pilot for a comedy, tentatively titled “Cavemen,” that features the characters used in a series of ads by the insurance company.

In the ads, cavemen appear insulted by a Geico pitchman’s claim that the company’s Web site is so easy to use that “even a caveman can do it.”

The potential series, one of 14 pilots that will be produced by Touchstone Television this spring, features the cavemen as they “struggle with prejudice on a daily basis as they strive to live the lives of normal thirty-somethings in 2007 Atlanta.”


The advertising copywriter who helped create the “cavemen” ads is writing the pilot, the studio said.

A pilot order is no guarantee a show will make it on the air; in fact, the majority of pilots don’t make it that far.

They're funny, Sister. I don't see them as being insulting to anyone, except cavemen. Are you trying to say you are a cavewoman, Sister?

I think they're hysterical. One of the earliest where they are in the restaurant and they "lose their appetite" is probably my favorite. I do like the therapist one too, though.

I pay attention to too much stuff... I know.

But...

He says "Well, apparently not 'cause I'm looking right at it" and he exclaims that it is 4'x5'.

The next time you see that commercial take a look at the billboard.

That doesn't look 4'x5' to me.

Maybe 4'x6' or 3-1/2'x6' but not 4'x5'.

For perspective think of this. An index card is 4"x5" so a sign that was 4'x5' would be of the same basic shape only 12 times larger.

It don't look 4'x5' to me.

Have you had the chance to listen to the lyrics of the song that is playing during that one. Something to the effect of being reminded everywhere he goes. LOL
