Re: Spiritual Communion
I get concerned when I hear 'Christians' talk of things like meditation. I am not talking about the way discussed so far here, but I was listening to the radio and heard an individual say that to meditate you could take a word and repeat it periodically for a period of several minutes and let your mind be blank. Too me this is dangerous, especially as they said you could take a passage of the Bible and do the same thing. I am convinced that no matter what, the emptying of the mind opens a person to the devil.
Jesus said that the devil goes out of a man, visits his former dwelling, finds it swept and empty, finds others worse than himself, and takes up his abode. And empty mind will soon be a habitation for devils.

Re: Spiritual Communion
This is why the Bible says to be filled with the Spirit, and our thoughts subject to the Word. This keeps the devil out of our heads.

Meditation is bad when blanking the mind is involved.

Re: Spiritual Communion
Correct me if I am wrong, but when you are in a quit prayer full state and you blank the mind, there is no way satan can come in. You are already conected to God. You blank the mind to outside infulances and thoughts that come between you communion with God.
There is a difference with being cleansed of evil spirits without the presence of God filling you from blanking your mind by meditating on the word of God.
If you don't understand this then I would assume you have not heard the voice of God because your prayers have all been one way, your telling God, and never shutting up long enough to let him talk back to you.
Too many times, (most of the time) what we call prayer is nothing but our shouting to God telling what we want from him, we think with our much speaking we are getting the point accross, (remind you of some one else?) But when you truly pray you close yourself in your closet, (shut your mind off to outside thoughts, BLANK YOU MIND).
This is another thing that satan has taken from God and used for his own use. And we have lost a great tool of comminion and hearing the voice of God because we have let simple minded teachers tell us this will hurth us.
The whole purpose of Christ comming to earth was to restore mans relationship with God. A relationship like those only seen a few times in the history of mankind. Adam and Eve. Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Moses to name a few. God tried to restore this relationship with Isreal right after leaving Egypt, to some degree and they told Moses they did not want to hear the voice of God but let Him Moses talk to God and tell them and they would obey.
This personal relationship is what the death of Christ made available to any man women or child that wants it. See here is the problem, most Christians talk about salvation, I have to get saved this life is all about getting saved. I talk about relationship, I got saved to have a personal relationship with God in this life.

Amen.
Learning to silence the mind and hear God is part of walking in the prophetic. My first pastor (Rev. Huss Shearer) was acknowledged by many to be a prophet. Often in prayer meetings he'd sit and just rock back and forth, eyes closed, listening to God. He'd often talk about praying so deeply, silencing the soul, until one entered a "trance" where you and God are "one" in a way that goes beyond time and space. He said this is the place where visions often happen. Many of us have experienced this on occasion. However, it's sometimes difficult in environments that are very loud or expressive with chatter. All too often when we pray we do all the talking... and leave God unable to get a word in.

Re: Spiritual Communion
A couple of weeks ago I was in such pain that I dreaded the thought of trying to get some sleep. After my husband & I prayed for healing, I called a 'prayer warrior' for help. She prayed for me and then told me to go to bed, to keep repeating the word "by Your stripes I am healed", and to keep the vision/accomplishment of Jesus on the cross in my mind. Praise God, He gave me a good nights rest!

I you are meditating on the word of God then you are not blanking out your mind, though.
Blanking one's mind is thinking NOTHING consciously with effort and inviting ANYTHING to come to your mind. That is the danger of blanking the mind. When one prays and then awaits to hear from God, that is not blanking one's mind. It is consciously expecting GOD to react to your prayers. Big difference. We are talking about blanking the mind without prayer and without conscious faith to hear from God.
