That's the same reason why the Tower of Babel was frustrated, and why nations were created, to contain the power of evil. When nations unite under an empire or with strong alliances that give too much power to a few, the Bible calls them "beasts".

When Israel or Judah had wicked kings, see the terrible impact it had in the nation and how they persecuted the just and persuaded people to depart from God. Thankfully, because we have nations and borders, persecuted people can find refuge in other countries.

It all comes down to our sinful condition.

There could be of course more reasons than that.

Awesome post sir

We all know the real reason was so that women can point to Debby when they decide to become a lady man-of-God.

I was thinking about this last night. The current pastor took over for his father who is now “bishop.” Though I’m initially against nepotism and the ministry, I was thinking that maybe the churches are so accustomed to the style of ministry that they’d prefer to vote in someone familiar who is familiar with their father’s ministry.

Got it?

Its only weird if you make the sheep grow their own mint and sharpen their own shears.

Actually Deborah's husband was probably supposed to be the judge. Hence the reason we are given his name. But since all the men in Israel were losers, a woman had to do the heavy lifting. One asking a guy, Barak, to go and fight (who puppies down and asks for mommy to go with him). Another female Jael, snags another coward, feeds him cookies and milk, when he goes feety pajamas to bed, she nails his head to the pillow. Yep, that what I want as my example as ministry, good God in Zion.

Well, hence the reason the Catholic Church wanted celibate monks. So they couldn't turn their property or parishes over to their kinds. No offspring, and the church lands and money stay with the main Church.

Because the judges were deliverers, not monarchs.

God can use men(and women) as deliverers, but wants to be their sole king.

They voted God out and were allowed to install kings in His place.

We will reign with God(Jesus) and judge mankind for the lone King someday.

T thought it was so the office of Pope wouldn’t be passed down.

That is also a valid point along the same lines I described. Yet, in the Eastern Roman Church they are allowed to marry, yet sons of priest have no obligation to become priests nor can priest holdings be passed from father to son.
