We have to keep the tax cuts in place and will have to have serious budget cuts. I believe we need to pull foriegn aid for at least three years. Other countries should understand we are of no use to them if our economy goes under.
Obama was given a report a few months back outlining several social programs that are overlapping each other, throwing millions of dollars into the same problems. These need to be addressed.
The problem here is the government can not tell business what they should do when the government can't run itself. Government must show its willing to cut where needed and become economically responsible before the market will feel secure enough to invest.

Well do you think they should not be taxed? I'm taxed. You're taxed. Why should businesses be exempt? Why are giving them a free ride in this discussion?

So you don't have a solution because our economic doom is inevitable?

I didn't say that the economy is making the comeback that was forecasted !!!! I said it is not going down as it was under Bush. I said it is on a upward trend even though so slightly!!!

More regurgitating talking points from the left.
Toyota didn't get stimulated, Ford went it alone, Just Gubment Motors and Chrysler.
Of course Saab is closed, Pontiac and saturn are gone and several thousand dealers. How stimulating.
Looks like Obama stimulated Ford.

How are you Light?
Why is unemployment so incredibly high?
Under Bush it was under 6%. Now it is actually 17-18%.
Per capital GDP is still way down.
It is important to note the workforce expands byh 200,000 people a month. Of course the employment doesn't.
The Democrat economic disaster is obvious to people with "half a brain".

Not at all. They should be taxed, just not to the extent most liberals (Democrats and Republicans) want to tax them. Yes, they have lots of money, but that money is better invested into the economy than given to government coffers. Especially to the useless spending we have now.
Why?
We have history to show the stimulus worked for the American auto industry.
True. But for the most of it, it hasn't helped much. It hasn't done much for the country as a whole. If you could figure what percentage the economy has rebounded per the dollar amount of stimulus, we would be taking one step forward and two steps back.
So you don't have a solution because our economic doom is inevitable?
|
No I don't have a solution. I posted some thoughts and ideas, but I don't see an easy way out nor do I see a recovery in the near future, ie.the next 2 to 3 years.
History also records the rise and inevidable fall of every great nation. Maybe it's our time.
One thing I agree with you, we have to get past the bi-partisian bickering and we have to cut spending.

How is your trickle at your place?
We are in this mess because of the foolish polices starting in 2000.
Two wars not included in Bush budgets, massive tax cuts.
Down down down went the economy from 2000.
2008 Up, up the economy though it is slow,it is still going up.
Trickle doesn't cut it for the working man or woman.
|
"How's your trickle at your place?"
Light the "trickle" at my place is great. I work an average job, make decent, but not great, money and live within my means. I don't expect the govt to take care of me, feed me, or give me someone elses money.
I am the working man, but thanks to Obama, our business has slowed down, as has all the economy, while we pay more money for worthless help, since we have to pay 16 years olds who text instead of work 7.25\hr instead of 5.15, which has affected how we are able to give raises to better employees.
However, even in a slow economy I am blessed and things are good for me. First because God provides, and second because I've always worked hard, and so when the economy got bad I was one person that wasn't going to lose their job.
Most, but certainly NOT all, of those whining about the "rich" are simply too irresponsible or unmotivated to actually work hard themselves.

First, how many tax cheats does OBAMA have in his cabinet? He should have had them pre-screened, or at least taken action against them when these revelations were made known or shut up about people needing to pay taxes.
Second, what benefit is there for companies to invest their money? My company is doing verywell and we are actually investing in improving our locations, however, we are doing this in spite of declining sales, and only because we were in excellent shape with no debt when the economy took a down turn. For those who weren't in as good a shape, and are struggling to survie, why would they invest their profits? Its not like labor is getting cheaper, sales are getting stronger, or as if there is any real incentive. Plus REAL profits are shrinking due to taxation, health care, and other economy crippling decisions and policies made by this current incapable administration.

2 1/2 years in and its still "George Bush's fault." Whiners. The fact is we have an incompetent president who not only can't fix the problem in 2 years, but can't fix it in 20 years (if he were given the chance). But some people are so drunk on the Obama kool-aid they aren't willing to face reality, but cling to "hope" and "change." And sadly, many of you would love to have 20 years of Obama. But like Jeremiah asked "what will you do in the end thereof?" If that were to happen (and I'm not saying it will, I'm saying Obama gets the boot in 2012) we would have a marxist, muslim-flavored, homosexual haven of a country by 2028. You (and those like you) are to blind to see where things lead, you can only see right in front of you, and the big concern is having the government take care of you.
I have a plan for you. Destroy your SS card, birth certificate, and drivers license. Quit your job, and show up at the welfare office and say "no speaka english". It would really help you too if you tell them you are pregnant and unmarried. Go ahead and do that Light, and your "trickle down" will be just fine.

Re: "We Can't Cut Our Way To Prosperity" says Prez
There are two economies in this country.
1.)The economy of the governement which derives it's money from the people
2.)the peoples economy which derives it's money from manufacturing or services.
If you take from ecomomy #1 you in fact grow economy #2 and vise versa.
There is only so much money in total and if you add to one, you MUST deprive the other. This president is merely the major spokes person and the power for ecomomy #1, so keep in mind which ecomomy he is trying to build up.
You decide which economy he was referring to.
