I agree and it is simply identification. The Spirit bears witness if we are his children.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness
with our spirit that we are children of God,
Rom 8:17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,
provided we suffer with him
in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs (namely, heirs of God and also fellow heirs with Christ)22 —
if indeed we suffer with him
so we may also be glorified with him.
to suffer is to obtain or to gain something which in thetext is glorification which is eternal life.
What is to suffer? To do the Father's will as Jesus did against a world and flesh that will hate us.
