I didn't care for Bill Clinton. He is twice as smart as Obama.

It will hurt the economy. The economy is on the verge of crashing as it is.

And the tea party freshmen will get the blame.

But... not to worry... it will be reason enough to declare martial law and through posse comitatus out the window and bring in the troops.

Re: Obama: "Gov't Shut Down Will Hurt Fragile Econ

Frog,

I don't hate BO. I pray for him. He's OUR president. I just fandamentally disagree with almost every aspect of his presidency. His worldview is from an extremely liberal, socialistic, pro big gov't. I believe we are on the verge of an economic crisis to such a degree that the peaceful and prosperous life we've enjoyed here for 270+ years may be irrevocably damaged.

Many economists are saying we have 2-4 years before we hit a "debt crisis" that would send us in a tailspin financially. Not just America needs America to remain strong, the world depends on a strong US economy. The instability could be devastating.

I don't believe that BO and the Democrats really believe that spending without limits could sink us. Unfortunately too many Republicans (career, Washington DC establishment) don't realize how seriuous this is.

My hope of course is in the Lord. But I am somewhat comforted in the Paul Ryan budget proposal and in the recommendations of the Deficit Commission that BO assembled. Now if both sides will quit playing games and get serious, we can fix this problem.

I just don't see any leadership coming from this man. He had total control of the Whiye House and Congress, and they couldn't even come up with a budget for fiscal year 2010. Here it is April 2011 and it has taken a schillacking in Novemeber by the GOP to force his hand to even talk about budget cuts, but even then he doesn't lead the way.

Seriously, if you are a blind loyalist to the Democrat Party, I get the excuses and the finger pointing to obfuscate. But if you really are open to winning ideas and real solutions, I don't get how you can listen to this man and the Democrat leadership and believe these people grasp just how serious this issue is.

It doesn't take vast amounts of intelligence: you can't operate at huge deficits forever! A payday for debt will eventually come!

The only point I made on this thread was that Obama actually said something that all sides agree with. Even digging4truth and he dislikes Obama as much as you... even he realizes that a government shutdown would be hurtful for the fragile economy.

Remember something my dad told me when I was a teenager.... Have never forgot it.

"You can't borrow yourself out of debt!"

I wish the politicians in Washington could understand this principle!

Guess it's because they can keep printing money out of thin air. Nobody else can do such a thing.

Why is it always personal? Nobody here has said they hate or dis-like Obama. Can't we disagree with his policies and still like the man? (carry over from other thread)

At any rate, this economy is past fragile and the worst thing for it is to keep spending as if there's no tomorrow. That just has to stop.

Personally, a shut down doesn't bother me...it's better to do that now then to face what's coming if we don't do something drastic. And since the democrats are playing politics with this (proven by last years lack of budget), there doesn't seem to be any other choice.
