That's a good idea... I should keep track of my calories... And I do find the more I exercise, the less likely I am to eat the extra sweets... My thinking is that , If I am doing all this work to burn off what I already have on me, why add more......
I plan on buying a treadmill... I've been walking while my son rides his bike... At first that wasn't so bad because he just started learning...But now, he likes to zoom and I don't zoom....

In general, I eat very healthy. No fried foods except occasional eggs cooked with a small amount of butter. We never drink sodas, koolaid, or that stuff. You won't find hardly any boxed or canned goods, and NO chips or snacks in our home. We eat mostly fresh fruits and fresh veggies and lean meats. So we eat pretty healthy. BUT... I need to lose 60 lbs. I've started walking a mile each day except sunday and I work out lots on our home gym thingy... but I need a jumpstart that doesn't involve those diet pills... Anythoughts??

Low carb/South Beach diet
Drink plenty of water. Exercise daily.
I'm doing the South Beach diet... Drinking almost a gallon of water a day-- and doing a two mile walk DVD in the morning, and a one mile walk DVD in the afternoon.
I've lost 10 lbs in two weeks. Not saying how much more I need to lose--It's too depressing to even talk about. It's a slow process, but I'd rather lose it slowly and keep it off, than lose it quick and gain it all back.
I'm going to the Memphis zoo today with 35-40 kids. I think I'll skip the walk DVD this morning... I should get enough exercise today without it.

I heard about a brother who said all he did was at twice as many veggies as he would his carbs or meat... He said by the time he ate the veggies that he ended up not eating as much carbs and meat. Then he started walking and someone said it was like looking at a whole different person. He musta lost bookooo weight..

That's good though. 10lbs in 2 weeks. Good for you!!!! Hey, it took time for me to add this on, it'll take time to get it off.... BTW, I'd skip the morning walk to if I were you...
I"d probably get more miles walked but my children are with me. My husband won't let me go by myself..... which I totally understand...he cares!!!

I am hoping that our garden produces well this year and we are going to try to make a huge switch towards veggies.
As I mentioned... I do the low carb thing but I don't even count the good veggies. Eating veggies is just never a bad thing. I do stay clear of the high carb veggies such as potatoes but the more reasonably carbed veggies are just considered freebies. Eating veggies just doesn't seem like it can be a bad thing to me.

Another thing that really helps is to keep a food journal. A friend of mine gave me a link to this site www.fitday.com so that I could do it online. It has calorie counters-- and tells you how many calories your burning based on the info you enter for daily activities, etc. I've been doing this for about a month now, and it helps.
Gotta run pack a picnic lunch for the zoo trip. I have baby carrots & red grapes, and will have to raid the kitchen and see what else I can find. I can't afford to let hubby and the kids have a reason to stop at McDonalds. They need to all be eating healthier too.
