Do you do any research before you make theses ridiculous statements. Please show your source for someone loosing the home or farm because of estate taxes!!! It hasn't happened. Do some research instead of listening to the Fox so called news talking points.

Actually it has. My Tax professor was a lawyer. He handled a case in louisianna where a man died. He had bought a 500,000 dollar life policy and it was to benefit his mistress. He had structured it wrong and his widow had to sell her Budweiser beer distributorship to pay taxes on the policies and the estate. It is not uncommon for business owners to have debt called when a borrower dies. Sometimes they have to borrow money to pay off taxes or sell.
His widow was paying taxes on the Life insurance because it was valued in the estate.
My suggestion is tax books from Prentice Hall or Commerce Clearing House Light.

Any estate is money and assets that were worked for, earned, invested, put at risk, saved, etc. For government to take that money after taxes were already paid on those things is criminal. To prevent people from passing on an inheritance to their children is just wrong.
Proverbs has a lot to say about leaving an inheritance to your children. I thought I'd mention that since you're all for using the Bible to defend your positions and all...

How do heirs to an estate add to the national debt if they get to keep all or most of what their parents will to them? Can any of you Democrats concede at all on this one? How is it fair to tax the estate of people who paid taxes their whole lives? The governement has a right to take a large percentage of what should belong to your children simply because they didn't earn that income? Can anyone see the absolute unfairness about any of this?
The Congressman's statement is unbelievable. It underscores the mentality of the liberal left. They believe that the government has a right to take your property simply because you're dead, even though your life's goal was to provide a better way of life for your children.
This is so wrong in so many ways!

That the American people would allow this without a march on government is mind blowing. I seriously doubt the men who fought WWI and WWII would have allowed the government to try and take what was theirs without a fight.
I think too many Americans have become dumbed down or given up????

Yes, well we are finding out over and over again, THEY are not paying their taxes! How are they getting by with that?
I would love to know if ALL the congressmen/women are paying their taxes or do you have to wait until they are appointed for a position?

Seems you are the one that needs to do research. Many families have lost the family farms due to estate taxes!
Kansas in particular have several family members lose the farm due to taxes.

You know what Light, it doesn't matter if it affects me or not, it is still NOT right!

This is just part of a socialist attitude against private ownership and a way of redistributing wealth.

One of the lefties argued the beneficiaries didn't earn the inheritance. Same goes with the gubment,. They did nothing to earn any part of it either and had already collected previous taxes on earnings.
This is just Democrat greed. They know better how to spend your money than do your children.

Re: The Estate Tax: the Most Unfair of Tax of All
One of the simplest lessons I ever learned on economics was from a column in the newspaper many years ago. I think it was by Walter Williams but I'm not sure and I can't quote it word for word but it went something like this.
Government has no money and the only way they can give something to someone is to first take it from someone else.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his need (or needs) is a slogan popularized by Karl Marx in his 1875 Critique of the Gotha Program
