Re: Obama/GOP Compromise: Bad Deal for Americans
The liberals are completely lost. The moderates, so-called, are pretty well hopeless, with a slight chance they'll wake up. Conservatives---true conservatives, are the only hope we have to right this ship! Dedicated Mind is a case in point. He/she thinks that 99 weeks of unemployment benefits isn't enough. Its heartless to stop giving free money, unearned income, to people who have ben receiving it for nearly 2 years! His/her answer? Take money that BELONGS to someone else, money that has been earned, worked for, invested, put at risk, inherited from relatives that earned it, and give it to people who aren't earning ANYTHING! Somehow that makes him/her with a heart. Well, DM, give more if you want! But why must it be legal to steal from others who earn their wealth and give to people who aren't earning a penny? You're the one without a heart---and a brain!

The mindset that says take from those who work, earn and give to those who don't is a thought process that is bringing down Europe, (see London today) and is working overtime to do the same here.
Not to mention it's counter to the Word of God.

now free market economy is biblical? You are twisted. the old testament had provisions for the poor. The apostles had all things common in acts. where do you see the free market in the bible? can you provide scripture please instead of your twisted thoughts?

money doesn't belong to anyone. the system provided the individual with money and the system could require it back. why are warren buffet and bill gates giving away millions? because they understand their responsibility to the system. you wouldn't be so heartless if you were the one who was unemployed.

Re: Obama/GOP Compromise: Bad Deal for Americans
I am glad that the tax cuts for those earning over $250k was extended.
We are in recovery mode still. A shock like what would have happened if the tax cuts were not extended would have immediate and painful results, in my honest opinion.
As for extending unemployment benefits, I am glad for that too. However, I really, really hope that there is accountability for folks who are receiving these benefits-- ensuring that they are indeed job hunting.
Many on the GOP say that economic situation has worsened since Obama has started. We question: Where are the jobs?! We readilly admit (when we want to attack the President) that the job situation in America is HORRIBLE! We blame the President for his failed policies over and over again-- connecting him DIRECTLY to the 9.6% unemployment rate.
Yet we want to cut off unemployment benefits for the jobless!
Absolute nonsense!
Political hypocrisy at it's WORST!
Trickle down economics has not trickled down to everyone OR every locale just yet. We should have a little more patience with our fellow countrymen.

We were talking about the extension of un-employment benefits, (try and stay up) I gave you a true story to illustrated. The Bible says those who don't work don't eat.
If you think that's twisted, then you'll have to take that up with the Author.

Do you know how to have a discussion without calling people names?
But, that's the tactic of the left, when facts get in the way make it personal.
Those who work and get a paycheck at the end of their committed time own the money. It's theirs, they earned it, they were hired to do a job for said payment. It's fair and it's just.
When someone takes what rightfully belongs to another, the Word of God calls that stealing and God says don't do it.
Gates and Buffet should be giving out of the goodness of their hearts.

Actually, it's a 9.8% jobless rate.
It's the president who sets the tone, the agenda, has the bullypulpit, so yes he has the lion share of the blame.
In this state, those who work have taken out of their checks a certain amount to go towards un-employment benefits. I don't know how it works in other states. So, here it seems fair those who are jobless and are remaining jobless at no fault of their own are receiveing, in part, what's theirs in the first place.
However, the beneifts just passed are un-funded. It's the un-funded part that should concern us all.

DM....are you practicing what the Apostles did in Acts? If not, why not! You seem to be the one with the twisted thoughts. Pathetic!

Collecting taxes is not stealing! Jesus paid taxes and said render unto Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar. So what is your argument now?

Re: Obama/GOP Compromise: Bad Deal for Americans
One way we could cut back would be to regain control of Washington, D.C. and all of the spenders in office.
For a period of time I worked for a company doing business with the government. When it came time to renew the budget we had to spend all of the unused money from last year's budget, (for THINGS, whether we needed them or not), or else we would loose that amount in the new budget. Spend it or lose it! That was the game and still is the game!
Our nation is being run by a pack of ostriches with their heads in the sand with a bunch of citizen ostriches encouraging the heads in the sand to carry on...you're doing a good job they are proclaiming.
Wake up America. The truck is going over the cliff!
And the stupidity of saying unemployment benefits is helping the economy. If we keep up the pace we're on we'll all be on unemployment benefits. Who's gonna pay then! I guess that would make America a prosperous Nation????
Liberals.....Get a life! and get your heads out of the sand!
