And I agree with Nahkoe, the demon was there because the person was there.

Cindy... reread what you typed, slowly. Especially the first word of the bolded sentence.

Re: Demons at the Altar
Isn't that like saying "how can a demon be anywhere within 30 feet of Jesus"?
And just how "strong" or "weak" has the Spirit to be before a demon can be in a service?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Demons at the Altar
I guess it's my turn to get on my soapbox.
Yeah, this stuff is real. I'd be the most foolish of fools to deny that it is given my experiences. But, it's not all woo woo and stuff.
I do *not* buy much when it comes to the dramatic and the puking and the thrashing about and the flipping out....I think that's mostly drama. I mean, most of the time when it happens that's all it is.
Now, I did spend enough months nauseous and wanting to peel my skin off whenever I was around someone who walks in the power of God, and I did almost throw up when someone finally prayed for deliverance for me. But I was always in control of my actions, always in control of my behavior. I did not spend a lot of time inside of the sanctuary, I'd hang out in the back or in the room behind it as much as I could. And I'd skirt the crowds, avoid people who made me most uncomfortable, avoid prayer, but I did make the conscious decision to attend church in spite of the discomfort.

It's not the service where God is/shows up. It's the people. Someone who's walking where they need to be with God is FAR more uncomfortable to hang out with than someone who's just going through the motions on Sunday.

Re: Demons at the Altar
I have to agree. If someone "calls out" someone it is all for show. IMO. Not that it cannot happen, but I think there is more and more fluff at camps and less and less of the actual moving of God. Think about it. To someone that is Baptist, Methodist or the like they mostly get spiritual fulfillment from their demonination, but an Apostolic goes there and they say "I couldn't feel God there." Usually when I hear that kinda talk I say, "If you didn't feel God it is probably because your feelers are broken or you were trying to feel after the system of how an Apostolic says you should feel when God is around."

Re: Demons at the Altar
There are so many false notions of demons. Ever hear that demons cannot say "JESUS"? Well, that's nonsense:
Luke 4:33-34 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, (34) Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
Similarly, it is not true demons cannot be around church meetings. In fact, they're in MANY church meetings. lol But any person who has sin and is not repentant can and will bring a demon spirit with him/her no matter how fiery the church meeting. It is the INDIVIDUAL'S state of spirituality that determine if the devil can be present in a red-hot church meeting. If EVERYONE is clean before God and on fire, no devil can be near the place. But just because a service is anointed does not mean the devil cannot be clinging to someone giving that spirit grounds.
But when such people reach out for God and want to be right, like demons crying out when Stephen preached, the devils will want to leave.
