On the board it said SAHM's are parasites and worthless. Not all the people are saying that, of course, but some are downright nasty. I am amazed that ANYONE would think a SAHM was a parasite and worthless.

And you could be seeing a minority of mouthy people who override the way the real world feels about SAHM's. Everyone I tell, and I'm proud so I tell a lot of folks, says they think it is a great thing.

The message boards that are linked to internet news articles seem to be the worst... I tried to steer way clear of them. I already believe society is broken, I don't need any more confirmation. lol.

And another thing, wasn't feminism about women having the right to make choices? And doesn't a SAHM make a choice?

Those career people will wake up one day, be 60 or 70 and not have any memories except work-related ones... that is just sad.

According to one new report, $138,095 a year.

That's the figure in a report by Salary.com, which calculates the wages that would have been paid a stay-at-home mom in 2007 if she were compensated for all the elements of her "job." That total is up 3% from 2006's salary of $134,121.

Moms who have jobs outside the house would earn another $85,939 for their mothering work, beyond what they bring home in existing salary.

I support Kristin's choice to be a SAHM. She could match my net income if she went back to work, but we both feel our children need her most. We also homeschool. Today we went as a family to the community National Day of Prayer Service.

I was a stay at home mom for 12 years..until I became a single mom. We did without some things but I wouldn't trade the time I spent at home for anything. I would do it over again...

About SAHM being parasites.....SAHM are some of the most frugal, thrifty people and their husbands some of the most handy people ever! This is of necessity!

That is sad.

I wouldn't trade anything for the time I've been able to stay at home with my children. We actually tried the adventure of me having a job outside the home once... it lasted 9 months. By the end of that time, my hubby was begging me to quit the part time job and just stay home and get the house back in order. I think he was tired of helping out so much with the housework! His job pays the bills, and my little online survey payments & ebay sales make up a little extra play money. Those "career" people are the ones who really lose out.... I wouldn't want to trade places with any of them.
