Most of Revelation is symbolic. I don't want to accept the mark of the beast without realizing it. We must be aware of what we're facing.

I don't think Satan works that overtly. The "mark of the beast" is contrasted with the seal of God in the foreheads of the 144000. The seal is the sealing of the Holy Ghost, and is spiritual. The "mark of the beast" may be a symbol representing a spiritual branding by the spirit of antichrist upon those who are compromising with sin and this world's worldly system. In this respect anyone in complete alligience with any government or system that is antichrist has the mark of the beast.
