Large proves nothing really. It usually just points to strong leadership skills.

Hmmm . . . not sure how "conservative" a church can be with a golden angel, costly marble pillars and fountains. Dress standards may be conservative, but that would be it.

Looks too catholic or mormon for me . . .

Some of the largest churches of yesteryear would be considered UC churches.
Not only was Bishop Johnson's church in Philly the largest Apstolic church at that time it was the largest church in Philly period. Bishop Haywood pastored one of the largest churches in the city of INdy. Bishop Lawson pastor two large churches one in Columbus, Ohio and the other in New York City. They preached against everything from shoe strings to green beans.(joke) Built large churches.

The reason they had alot of people at those churches is because the people that went there did not eat veggies and only wore sandals!

Consider, the church is pastored by a unique individual with a unique mission, however, I would bet my house that he couldn't accomplish the same thing in other parts of the nation.

The conservatives say that large churches outside the UPC/conservative realm are large due to a message of compromise, however the opposite could be true. Maybe there are more folks in Arkansas that are in need of a regimented, controled structure and a socially conservative group is exactly what they need to keep themselves sane and out of trouble with the law.
I'd like to know if you yourself have accomplished this in your part of the nation with lesser standards?

Any church that has TV in any form is not conservative.

What's your definition of "Conservative?" Also, if they didn't have a TV ministry, but just had an internet ministry - would you say the same? Or would they be conservative with just an internet ministry and not tv?

I sense some inconsistency here.

Bro. Epley- I would be quite surprised to find out that Bishop Haywood was a UC. Are you sure he belongs on the list? If so can you give an actual example of something that would surprise us today?
