I agree that the way you present yourself and the way you dress are very important. I don't believe women have to wear skirts to be modest, but I respect people that believe this. My mother and other family members still dress this way.
I'll never forget how much I hurt a little girl when I was a child myself. At school, she asked me why I wore skirts all the time. I told her if you didn't wear skirts you went to hell. She must have went crying to a teacher because the teacher pulled me aside the next day and told me that God doesn't care about the outside. I was only like 7 years old. Just terrible.

Re: What is wrong here?
To comment on the AA book, it is a great book and too those individuals in AA or NA it becomes their bible in a sense. The thing I really like about it, is that it encourages you to have a spiritual awakening through the 12 steps, in which one of those steps is to acknowledge a God according to your understanding, not someone elses'. I understand this is a very broad statement, but I think it is necessary to reach a broad audience of individuals that are spiritually broken for one reason or another and have succumb to the illness of addiction. Defiantly a must read!
By the way, I'm really sorry to hear about your family and the struggles your going through. At these AA meetings there is usually another group that meets there called Alanon, and that is for family members who deal with addiction within their family because it is a family disease in which the whole family goes through the pain and suffering even if they do not drink or use drugs, everyone is affected. I've been to these meeting, and is something that may benefit you, these people would be able to relate to you and share their experiences. Stay strong, I will defiantly keep you in my prayers.

Thanks theglory! I don't know if it's just a big problem where I live, but there are so many people I know that are addicted to painpills.

It is everywhere, folks are desperate and really don't know how to turn to God, many times because religion has so skewed their view of God.
