In my three score and ten years, I had never heard of the term "magic hair" until
I heard it on this forum. Someone started a "firestorm" with that term and a lot of
wood has been thrown on it. Many "teachings" have come and gone through the
many, many years our family has been in Pentecost. Some embraced those "strange"
teaching, BUT those who chose to stay in the word of God, did not embrace them.
They didn't throw a lot of wood on those that did and much of those teachings died
out. Just as a fire dies out when fuel is not added to keep it going.

I have an idea what has caused much of it to continue and why. I'm just not ready to say just now. Time is going to tell because TRUTH will prevail. Time will tell the real story!
While my family (Grandmother Lizzie, my mother, me. our three daughters and their
daughters have not cut their hair, (especially after receiving the Holy Ghost) we have
never heard the term "magic hair". Believing that it is bibical to let our hair grow uncut,
has nothing to do with believing that our hair is "magic" in any sense of the word.

Blessings,
Falla39
Sadly, I have family members who embrace and actually teach this stuff around the country.

I asked my own daughter about it last year - just to measure her exposure. She responded, "Daddy, that's what I believe!" I was stunned.

Bro. Praxeas,
I have met, heard and listened to Bro. Lee Stoneking since the 70's.
I do not agree with everything many preachers teach, I still have an
appreciation for the truths they do teach.

We have this big clock that is over two feet in diameter hanging on the wall on our back patio. The thing stopped working. The little bolts holding the long and short arms have loosened enough so both are hanging straight down and reading 6:30. Guess what. That clock is RIGHT at 6:30 in the morning and 6:30 in the afternoon.... Do I keep it because it is "occasionally" dead on accurate? (The only reason I still have it is because I am too lazy to take it down and replace it....)

It is stunning, isn't it? It's why I maintain that Mr. Stoneking is not really all that "out there." He's just bringing some dramatics to what has been taught in pentecostalism for many years, in my opinion. I would also maintain that anyone who practices uncut hair for spiritual reasons, is adhering, a bit, to the "Magic Hair" doctrine. Let's face it, either there's power in uncut hair or there isn't.

And by the way, hoo-ray for you for going back to your real name!!

Unfortunately, many aren't as wise or discerning as you - particularly young people, and they accept all teaches from a well-respected minister in the organization. Therein lies the danger in not calling it out.
