Re: Im proud to be Apostolic... but
I am however grateful to have been a recipient of the Mercy of Jesus Christ.

Re: Im proud to be Apostolic... but
It is interesting to observe that some of the fastest growing conservative churches have seen that growth at the expense of other churches in the area whose preachers no longer teach absolutes concerning "outward holiness or standards."

If Apostolics don't fellowship each other ( and I've seen it and heard of it) how do they intend to get along in heaven?
Oh, I forgot.................they don't expect anyone else !

I stand justly corrected.
I am sure you know that was my point. But still, I stand justly corrected. I mistated my point.
Point: It is not pleasing to God.

Do I consider another church 'barred' from fellowship because they wear a wedding band?
Does being Apostolic mean "Speaking evil of my brother" is approved from the pulpit because they are liberal or conservative? Isn't that Satans business, the accuser of the brethren?
Off the cuff remarks about someone, that you 'assume' is a certain way, isn't right. (on the forum or from the pulpit). The religious leaders approached Jesus with hard evidence, caught in the very act and Jesus didn't disfellowship. Jesus didn't say things like, "she must not really have the HG!" or "How can she claim to be a child of God!".
No, love covers a multitude of sins.
I am proud to be Apostolic... but let it not be known as the backstabbing Apostolics. (or to the face for that matter )
Just a thought. Said with a smile and not confrontationally.

So short sleeves are a sin? splits are a sin?

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Im proud to be Apostolic... but
Reuben,
I'm happy to hear your stand on other churches whose standards are little different than yours, but I know your church fellowships with other churches that don't feel the same as you. If you have a TV or if your kids play little league sports, your on the slippery slope no matter what kind of life you live.

You are right. Most churches don't feel the same.
The difference I am talking about are things that aren't made sin by scripture. And the willingness to slander or cut off a brother or sister. Before we ever get to TV or some hot button like that, there are plenty of people who are willing to disfellowship over much less. Most of which would be classified as opinion. Like Christmas. Watches. Length of Sleeves. Wedding band. My whole point is to be less condemning.
With the knowledge that Christ loved me while I was still a sinner, means he feels the same way about the person down the street who has a tv. He loves them the same. And he is not pleased with us treating ANYONE he loves the wrong way. Now tell me, is that a true statement?

Im curious, how does having a TV and your children playing little league Soccer equate to living on the "slippery slope"?
I believe that teaching for doctrines the commandments of men is operating on a slipper slope. If one is led of the Spirit they will do all things for the glory of God. They will not watch any program that they cannot watch with Jesus. In addition if your kids are true Christians they will be a light and inspiration on the field demonstrating Christian sportsmanship and integrity.

I'm not sure Aquila,I think some churches preach against certain things so strongly that that if you live your life different than them they can't believe that you can be saved doing the things their pastor preaches against.( I'm talking minor stuff-sports,TV wedding rings, etc).
