If you think this is how a typical "right-winger" thinks, you're really taken in with the left winger rhetoric. Kool-aid, anyone?

He didn't say "typical right-winger." He said:
"this is rhetoric that right wingers have in their heart that spew venom against our nation's leader"
If you look carefully at the sentence, he's calling out the right-wingers that spew venom against our nation's leader. It's a completely valid point, and as a conservative, I completely agree with what he said.

Oh, I see how it could be taken either way, now. Hopefully he meant it the way you took it!

Re: Harmless Pelosi Jokes
That is absolutely sickening. What a reproach to Christianity! And it IS frightening as well.
However, to compare such serious, purposeful threats and statements to political jokes is just silly. I didn't read a joke about Pelosi dying, and I'm sure that would be inappropriate, but the editorials and jokes fly from both camps. It isn't even in the same LEAGUE as straight out death threats and twisted, unchristian behavior like this pastor is illustrating.
What is it about the Baptist churches that keep going all OT on people? Good grief! (Like the Westboro Baptist Church....)
I do think it would behoove us to watch our tongues when it comes to the President, because his security (like that of any other world leader) is and should be taken seriously. Words do have meaning, and Christians of all people should know that and care about what affect they have on others with what they say.
What bothers me the MOST, other than the potential threat on the life of the President, is the fact that he makes ALL Christians look bad (in the eyes of the world) with his stupidity and evil rhetoric. The reporter is also exactly right on this point--the pastor could incite someone else to violence, especially someone who doesn't have everything connected properly upstairs.

Yeah, the title of this thread really doesn't have anything to do with the content....

I'm a "right winger", DM, and I have no such thing in my heart, nor does ANYone I know personally. I would be personally devastated if someone were to kill our President. What a terrible tragedy that would be, and we should be praying for his safety and his family's safety every day.
I am shocked at how people tend to lose their sense of morality and Christianity when they become involved in politics. Christians need to be VERY careful about that, and make sure they DON'T develop hatred in their hearts for our leaders. The NT church had much worse, much more oppressive leaders, those who even called for their death, and yet we see admonishments to "honor the king", and to "pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you" and "love your enemies"--it could go on and on, because the NT is FULL of mandates to love others, even--no, especially--those with whom you are at odds.
[Politically]Liberal Christians are often no different, spewing venom back at the right-wingers with the same vitriol and hateful attitude.
Christians who are involved in politics need to be sure they can remain Christians first, above all.

Re: Harmless Pelosi Jokes
I Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
I Peter 2:14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
I Peter 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
I Peter 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
I Peter 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Re: Harmless Pelosi Jokes
Hard to play in the political system and not think the way of the political system.
Come out from among them and be separate.
More and more finding myself politically ambivalent.
