I guess it's not really the snow that I hate either. It's the COLD that always seems to come along with it... and the older I get the more I hate it.
I've never liked it - even when I was young. When I was in sales and because I loved "cold calling" - no pun intended - I especially hated when winter would arrive. Getting in and out of the heated car - getting cold again - walking into a heated office. Static cling is not fun. Especially when you are wearing a dress!!! LOL!
Because it's cold and wet! I don't like cold and wet!
It really snowed here in, I think, 2005. We were in Austin where it didn't snow a lick! I wanted to go home and see it. My husband wouldn't bring me home because it normally melts by the time the sun goes down. This time it didn't.
My daughter drove to our house to take pictures so I could see what it looked like! 12 inches is a lot of snow and it stayed on the ground for a couple of days!
When we made it home, I helped my son build a snowman. I put the carrot in it's face, dusted my hands off and said, "That's it. That's all the snow for me today." I promptly went inside the house.
I hate snow! Okay, I don't like it very much. I guess I don't actually hate it.
LOL!! I don't like snow much, either. I don't like shoveling it. I don't like driving in it. I don't like it when it melts and everything becomes muddy. I don't like it when it causes tree branches to fall and the power goes out. But, the scenery is unbelievably beautiful when it comes down wet and heavy and sticks to all the branches. I suppose I tolerate the snow now, but I loved it when I was a kid. Digging snow forts, going sledding/skiing, no school because of snow, snow ball fights, etc.

I forgot about the static cling!! and whenever I go to my locker first thing in the morning at work, I get zapped!

There is some beauty in it, I agree.
I find beauty in cactus, mesquite trees, the sun bearing down, creatures scurrying in the brush and the leather of the saddle on your horse squeaking. The horrible part is the deadly heat and sunburn!
I suppose we can find beauty and horror in every environment in which we live.
Right and walking into an office and pulling your dress out from between your legs!

Come get all you want. You might want to wait, though. No accumulation yet. Give us a couple weeks to get the ground cold enough for it to stick. Then your trip will be worth it.
There's nothing like the experience of life completely grinding to a halt because of a foot of snow on the ground. Things that were SO important suddenly don't matter.
And the sound!!!! Oh, the sound. The quiet. It's always an amazing God-moment for me. I miss it.

There is a stillness after a snowstorm in the night or early morning hours. I never really thought about it before until you mentioned it.
