Conservatives are against abortion.

Not necessarily true. The left's position is that as tragic as it may be, legally a woman has the right over her own body... not me, not you, and not the state. But this creates a moral delima for the left. Our only alternative would be to make pregnant women wards of the state, and force women to give birth or be charged. But then the question arises what shall they be charged with? Most of us would agree to murder... but no court in the land has ever or will ever convict a woman for murdering her child through abortion.

And people have a right to speak their mind on different issues... because they often break from their party of choice on a given issue. Besides, I was speaking as a Christian, not a Democrat. Once there were laws that prohibited women from voting. Some laws aren't just or just don't work. That means those laws have to be revised or changed. I think immigration laws aren't entirely just and need some work.

When I teach home bible studies, The Philipinos that waited, spent money and came here legally have real issues with those that can't pay the price.

I'm sure they do. But I also know of immigrants who waited, paid money, and still think our immigration laws need reform. They have family and loved ones who they'd love to have immigrate to the United States who can't afford it.
