the person presenting this believes in other video, which is why i am dumbfounded. If your going to allow kids to watch video, is there a better, more wholesome series than veggie tales?

Disney? Pixar? Nickelodeon?

I personally wish they would just make cute cartoons about moral kid things and not try to tell "Bible stories" that have nothing to do with the Bible. Little kids get in their mind, after watching the same DVD a hundred times, that they learned a Bible story. If they don't go to church or go to a church that doesn't teach the Bible, but just preaches, they will have lies in their heads instead of truth.

It took me over a week to get one child to believe me over the DVD that the story of Esther that they saw was not in the Bible. Sad. Again, it could have been a cute story, if they had not implied it was in the Bible.

So, I guess I would say that I won't show these to any kids I keep. They imply that they are telling a Bible story and what they show is not even close to the truth.

Just my opinion I can see from what I have read here.
maybe i am looking at it the wrong way, but i would rather have my children learn the principles that a bible story is teaching (and they LEARN from veggie tales because it is RELEVANT to them) rather than making sure they know every detail of the story as it is recorded in the king james version.

Veggie Tales is not designed to tell a Bible story. It is designed to present Godly principles in a way kids will understand and remember. If the child has a distorted view of the Bible, blame it on the parent who is too lazy to share the Word with their child. Veggie Tales allows Bible stories to be more relevant....

I would love your opinion of SuperBook. Robots in Bible times. Instead of complaining what was wrong about the videos, why not take that time to discuss the principles the video is trying to teach? Just a thought.

If Veggie Tales is the only exposure your child gets to Bible stories, then, yeah, that's a problem. But if your child knows the "real" story, I don't think VT are going to hurt anything.

My kids love the Adventures in Odyssey series. Those rock.

Re: Are Veggie Tales Ungodly?!

I love the part where they are doing the big singing scene inside the whale and there is a boat on top of the water and the people in the just look at each other as the whale swims underneath them because they can hear the pounding bass of the song being sang.

That is my favorite part ever.

Although I must admit that it is possible that my children may have learned bad lessons from veggie tales.

I sometimes fear that they gleaned too much from "The Pirates That Don't Do Anything" as, sometimes, my kids don't do anything.

Yep... and if Veggie Tales is the only exposure ones child gets to Bible stories... Veggie Tales is the least of their problems.

Lunacy caused by religion....like the preachers who preach against TV but they run down to the local Wal-Mart to catch the race/football game/world series, or decide that is the day they have to visit a "liberal" church member who they know will be watching!

Re: Are Veggie Tales Ungodly?!

My ten year old granddaughter learned many of the songs from VT that are most encouraging to children of all ages!! VT is a great entertaining learning tool and reaches children on their level. A little common sense goes a long way!!! Just my 2 cents worth!
