It addresses saints concerning theaters, school activities, etc., in the back of the manual, where they list all the disapprovals. Now whether we can consider that legally binding or not.......

I think that may be the point at issue here tho, if I remember correctly, the manual says things like "We disapprove of our members ....... etc.", and the question is "Who is a member?"
Is a member just a licensed minister, or is it a saint who sits on the pew in a UPC licensed minister pastored church?

..........which brings us back to the "No mans land" that is the UPCI. while we are in fact a ministers fellowship, there is that grey area that keeps poping up causing all the confusion....neither fish nor fowl.

I do not remember the wording, and I don't carry my manual around with me (I'm such a sinner! ), but it deals with dressing out for gym, so it is not talking about the preacher.

Is it animal, vegetable, or mineral?

Well, I always thought a member was a saint and minister as well.

Just as I see it. However, the legal terminology is in question, i.e., can a saint who doesn't abide by the rules of the UPC be disciplined by the organization? The answer is "no", but a minister certainly can be disciplined.

Gottcha...I agree here...the saint can be disciplined by the minister...the minister disciplined by the organization.

So really, a DS can pass judgement on a saint through the local pastor, in a roundabout way.

I didn't consider this as I have not known of it happening. I really don't know...I suppose so.
