What response are you talking about? Do you have an article link? I know the UN is passing a resolution, but I'm not aware of specific action on Obama's part. (Although I haven't been watching much of the news lately, so I could admittedly be out of the loop.)
Are you opposed to bombing North Korea, if they don't comply with worldwide demands to cease missile testing, among other things?

I don't see standing by when others are threatened or persecuted as good, refreshing change. I do think there should be clear deliberation before action is taken, but there is a time for swift, decisive action.
I don't have much respect for men who hesitate to protect those in their care. I'd rather see a rash decision with good motives than a slow decision that is too protective of personal and political reputation.

The Administration's public brush off of N. Korea is exactly what NK does not want. I am confident that Sec'y Gates and his staff ARE NOT ignoring the K K threat and swift action will be taken, when absolutely necessary.
Sen. McCain would give them too much overt attention.
I am not opposed to completely obliterating N K.
I am glad to see this Administration's approach to the NK government that keeps throwing temper tantrums whenever they don't get their way.

Personally, I don't think Obama intends to ignore any threat, or sit idly by as past Democratic presidents have done. In this area, at least, I do have some hope that he will react appropriately.
So there. We have some middle ground. LOL!!!

1) So where were you when innocent women and children were getting their, hands, arms breasts and private body parts mutilated or chopped off?
Who was demanding that GWB respond, with force, when those attrocities were happening?
It would have been a good cause, a righteous cause,-- defending widows and the fatherless and all the oppressed over there.
2) I don't think the time for swift action in the form of force has come yet, concerning NK.
3) Is this what you could call a straw man's argument? If not, ok.
I don't see how the second paragraph fits in with what we are discussing.
Besides, isn't the road to hell paved with good intentions?
Sometimes with rash decisions, no matter how good the intent, there are lasting consequences that drag on and on and on.
ps
wasn't mocking him when I first typed it-- just picturing him in my mind, his actions, his words, etc.
but it sure does appear like I was mocking him. That was not my intent.

What on earth makes you think I was satisfied with GWB's response or lack thereof????
You need to understand something. Objection to any action by Obama is not an endorsement of any previous administration's similar action. You keep making that leap, and it isn't logical.
However, it IS a factor that the last two years of GWB's presidency, Democrats held the majority in Congress.

Gotcha!
I agree. I just think that a man's decisions, even those that turn out badly, illustrate his overall character. That goes for GWB and Obama and any other world leader.
Have you ever read anything about Emperor Hirohito, who was emperor of Japan during WWII? He was a good, compassionate leader, yet he allowed a group of advisers to make most (if not all) of the decisions regarding their participation in the war. How many Japanese lives could have been saved if he had been more inclined to step up to the plate and actually lead his people?
Good men who do nothing are no better than evil men. And if a man allows political or personal gain to be a factor in his decisions for a country, then he is not even a good man. IMO, of course.

Re: N. Korea Response
Well one thing is for sure, if NK decides to attack one of our or SK's ships, it needs to be considered an Act of War and we should respond accordingly.
Can you imagine, the USA at war on three fronts, fighting three separate enemies at the same exact time????
GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!

Re: N. Korea Response
Personally, I don't think there's much we can do.
The UN will debate, people around the world will lament, but like the old saying goes, "after all is said and done, much more is said than done."
We can't stop North Korea from doing what its kooky leader wants it to do. We fought NK back when I was a teenager and Harry Truman was President and we couldn't defeat them then. What makes you think we could defeat them now.
About all we can do is talk, posture, wring our hands, and hope the little guy there doesn't kill too many of us.

America will defeat all of her enemies-- especially those who provoke us!
