Re: Tornadoes in Arkansas and Tennessee

Tornado touched down in the Eubank area. Nearest town to us here. Getting reports of damage now on the Lexington Channel. Thank God for sparing us again.

Re: Tornadoes in Arkansas and Tennessee

I've been through two bad tornadoes - one in Adamsville, TN where I took my kids and ran over to Tamor's basement and spent the whole night there with her and her kids. The second one a few years ago here in Jackson.

They are absolutely the scariest things I've ever been through. I don't know how people who don't know the Lord make it through stuff like that!

Have close friends in Murfreesboro, thank God they are OK, and so far no one from the church has had damage.

Re: Tornadoes in Arkansas and Tennessee

CC1 and family are ok although my SIL and myself were chased by a funnel cloud / tornado up and down a dead end road! LOL!!!

We knew there were severe thunderstorms all day today and a tornado watch over a broad area of seven or eight counties around where I live but it actually was barely raining when we left my house to go look at some real estate about four miles away down a country highway.

The house and property we went to look at was down a dead end road. As we were sitting in the driveway looking at the house it suddenly started hailing with hail larger than marbles but smaller than golf balls. That only listed a couple of minutes and I thought we ought to head home.

As we headed back toward the highway directly ahead a funnel cloud started coming down and almost touched the ground then went back up. I kept driving toward it until I realized there was no way I could reach the highway safely to get away. When it came down the second time and almost touched the ground in front of us as bad as I hated to turn around and go down a dead end road I did as it was my best option.

This goofy funnel cloud chased us up and down the two miles or so of this road until finally it moved over to the side of us and allowed me to gun the engine and race toward the highway. As I was doing so my son in law saw it finally set down behind some trees and a lot of debris was thrown up in the air. We don't know if the debris was just trees or trees and houses.

Once we got to the highway we only got about half a mile down it before the way was strewn with tree branches and a large tree had been uprooted and was blocking both lanes of the highway.

I turned around and took the first turn away from the funnel cloud and took the long way home. When I got home found out that a funnel cloud had been over our home but did not touch down. My wife, daughter, and granddaughter had been huddled in a closet. Three houses down the wind did knock over a tree in a neighbors yard but thankfully it fell just short of hitting the home.

Thank the Lord my family is safe. Sadly two people lost their lives in my town this afternoon in this storm and some houses and businesses were destroyed or damaged.

I have been told that a tornado crossed IH24 in my town and had blown cars upside down, etc. That must have been incredibly frightening for those folks.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
