This funny because we just went and bought all 3 or our sons suits! They all are so excited to wear them, when we brought them home they couldn't WAIT to put them on.
We got them for Easter, I guess we still have some old school in us.
But I will tell you that for the last few years or so, they usually dress pretty casual to church.
Dressing up for Easter or church? I am totally kewl with that. I just bought a new three piece.
But folks should get over thinking it's a required or "holy" thing.

I don't think all customs or traditions of men are necessarily bad. I think dressing up for church is just that - a custom. Certainly has nothing to do with salvation.
If a church has a tradition of dressing up, whatever. As long as you don't make anyone feel badly who doesn't. Most churches I've been in are fairly balanced with this. It hasn't been a big deal.
It's been customary in America to have different dress codes for different places. You don't dress in the same way when you go to the park as you would to go to a dinner at a five-star restaurant. Church has traditionally been one of the 'dress-up' places. I don't think that's a horrible thing.
My son will be dressed like a banker this coming Sunday, in a brand new suit--and he will look oh so cute in it! AND, he's proud as punch to be wearing it.
There is NOTHING wrong with dressing up. If someone wants to go casual, there's nothing wrong with that either.
Some kids enjoy it, some don't. I say let them dress up if they want to (camp or anywhere), and if they don't, let them wear neat, clean casual clothes.
By the way, bankers aren't the only sharp dressers. My son dresses like his Daddy. And my girls dress like their mother. And grandmother. And aunts.
I seem to recall that the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 clothed her family in fine clothing.

Thank you, Abigail. I had to walk away from the computer before I responded. lol
We have a young woman that is new to our church. She is very heavy set, but has a pretty face. When she first started attending she would hardly look you in the face. One day she showed up in a very feminine outfit with black beaded slip on shoes. I don't know how she walked in them, BUT she wanted so badly to feel like a lady!!! She received the Holy Ghost a couple of Sundays ago. There is such a difference in her appearance now - she is so happy.
I was raised to dress up when I came into God's house.

I am one for dressing up, completely. Keith loves a brand new suit and I love brand new...well everything.
The last few years have been hard for us to buy brand new church clothes all the time, it's easy when you are an adult you can wear what you already have. (To be completely honest though, Keith's mom bought the boys suits this year)
But for kids, it can be a bit expensive when they are constantly growing, to keep them in nice new church duds.
Anyway the statement above reminds me of something my mom used to say about clothes, she would say it doesn't need to be new and expensive but clean and pressed.
So at least if I can not afford the new, I try to make sure their clothes are clean and their shirts are pressed. (teeth brushed combed hair!)
That's the way Jesus and the Apostles dressed
so we have to dress that way too.
Anything less is disrespectful to the House of God
and is unholy and on a slippery slope.
LOL - please tell me you are joking with this post.
