Please pray for my church tonight we are having a disaffiliation vote. After the vote the church will split into two churches one UPC and one Independent. Please pray for all the families that this split will affect and that everyone is able to act kindly to one another while presenting their thoughts.
Praying because I know from experience that nothing good happens from splitting a church.
We had a disaffiliation vote a couple years ago now. We did have a church split though, we just wanted to out from any type of control from the organization.
Freebie,
Based on the context of your post did you mean to type "didn't" instead of "did"?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Your prayers are greatly appreciated. This has been extremely hard for the whole church body. We are all hurting right now. The vote tonight basically decides which group keeps the building. If more votes are for disaffliation then the independent group gets the building and the UPC group leaves. If more vote are to stay UPC then the UPC group get the building and the independent group will leave. Unfortunately there will be a split no matter what because the pastor has lost license.
Hopefully no matter what happens brothers and sisters in Christ, can still treat each other with Christian charity and I will trust innocent people will not be harmed and no one will lose out with God.

Will the group that gets the building have to pay anything to the other group based on their investment in the church over the years?
