KWSSS, I will pray for sure.
I'm not as concerned as my Mom is-- she was the one who called to tell me about my summons.

If you had insurance at the time of the accident they are still liable to cover you.
JG will most likely be able to advise you.

Re: I Am Getting SUED! :(
Your insurance should be handling this issue. 100k is a bit steep for just bumping into them. Was there a police report filed? There might be other factors that you are not mentioning but if your insurance has been making good faith attempts to settle this thing you should not have anything to worry about. Then again, if your insurance has been flakey, like some that I know of, you will have your work cut out. And by the way, the court can appoint a lawyer if you need one.

JG May be able to clarify, but my understanding is that the courts only appoint a lawyer in criminal cases......... not civil.

I am being sued for 30k, not 100k
There was a police report filed. I did pay the ticket, failure to reduce speed to avoid collision.
The cop said it was a mere formality that he "had to do only because the lady insisted on being carried away in an ambulance."

Now she is suing me for 30k-- I don't even have 1k anymore!
Does anyone have any advice-- really, I can't even afford a lawyer right now.
I'm not worried as much as I am irritated. However, there is a little bit of concern about what EXACTLY I should do.
Hasn't anyone ever sang songs in the past that mentioned Jesus Christ being a lawyer in the court room?
I think I'm about to live it! That part is kind of exciting!!!!
I feel that my excitement is a little out of place for the situation, but what else am I supposed to do?
I don't have cash for a lawyer, 30k maybe I'll just give her my "behind on mortgage" house and be done with the ordeal. (not!)

Call your insurance co.; they should help you with it.

If your ins. co. isn't helpful enough, contact your ins. commissioner and see what they are obligated to provide. Once you find out, make sure you let your ins. co. know that you will contact the ins. commissioner if they don't help you resolve the matter.
Don't bring the commissioner's office into it, though, unless you need it to get your ins. co. to cooperate. They don't like that! (But it will twist their arm in a pinch.)

Re: I Am Getting SUED! :(
There is a statute of limitations on a civil suit which lasts 2 years.
Did they just file?
If they just filed suit - its only to preserve their right to sue.
If they file after the 2 years statute of limitations - they wont ever be able to come after you.
The insurance company knows this -----> Now just find out who they have assigned to your case.
Believe me - they have some one or SOON assign someone to your case.
