I'm a Libra - lots of room and emotions from one tilting balance to the other. LOL!

It all turns me off. I'm just me and I like all of my emotions. If there was one thing I would change - I'd just like to be wealthy living in a villa in Italy.

That's my input, which doesn't help you at all. LOL!
It's the same problem I have with Tim LaHaye's four temperments .... labelistic psychology

It's just Christian horoscopes .... It's a shame that it's been implemented in many our movement's churches and bible colleges as a model for understanding human behavior...

Of course many don't know it's origin is medieval astrology and zodiac.

Tried to explain the origins of LaHayes' book and the fallacy of it .... to an org missionary once ... and it infuriated him ... because seminars on that stuff had become his bread and butter.

Re: Can You Help Me Out?

I think the questions are broad enough that they can "fit" most people; at least most people willing to accomodate the categories. The statement about treating things "alcoholically" stood out to me. I guess you don't neeed to have suffered this specific dysfunction to exhibit some of the traits of dysfunction in general.

We're a messed up race of people. It's like we're caught out of our niche and struggling with unfamiliar terrain all of the time. What we need is an honest Guide to help us see our way.

I've always felt that there were two types of people in the world;

1) Those who say there are two types of people in the world, and
2) Those who don't.

That's kind of like my theory on all men are dogs and all women are snakes ...

I'm a chihuaha.

I've said too much.

I agree!! I have never read any of LaHaye's books and, of course, I don't plan to.

There was a book going around church at one time regarding personality profiles-

It was taken from Gen 49 and the 'tribe' you were in was according to your birthdate so instead of being a Taurus, I was a Simeon.

So according to the book certain "tribes" got along with some 'tribes' better than others- the book said I got along 1st with Zebulun & Asher 2nd with Benjamin 3rd with Dan & Joseph

It's like saying I get along better with Capricorns and Virgos etc.

You would hear people in church say, oh I get along better with them because they are a Zebulun.

Isn't this crazy?? People believe this stuff though, and I did for a while- it just seems like such nonsense.

YES, it's crazy!!! I am so sick of all of that stuff!!! I don't get along with some people because their personality gets on my nerves. There is nothing sinister in that.

Algae, I think anyone taking that test (and being honest) will find something to identify with even if they were never impacted by alcohol at all and had a very stable family life.

Where I find validity in the test is in looking at it holistically. does a preponderance of the questions apply to the extreme for one individual?

I dare say, the average person who was never abused nor dealt with an alcoholic parent, will find some personality quirk that fits some of the questions but like as not, it will only be a few and the degree to which they are impacted will be moderate.

but for a child of an alcoholic, who suffered abuse, you may find that most apply and many will apply in a pretty sever way.
