They would have a lot of people to sue. What would they sue for? Someone quoting and/or talking about their books or what they teach?

Exactly!

I think everyone should take a little time and research this subject. From what I know and I just happen to be an Attorney, you can be held accountable for many types of legal actions from things said on open forums.

It is interesting being an admin how many times we get request to delete posts or threads after the fact.
Why not make it a fund-raiser!
Let the free market have a place at the AFF table.

$5.00 per delete request within 24 hrs of posting
$20.00 per delete request between 24 hrs and 168 hrs OR any delete request within a quoted post of up to five (5) locations, plus $5.00 for each addition "quoted post" location.

All admin implemented delete requests remain within the original posting location with the indication 'deleted as a paid request, and all proceeds provided to support the operation of this discussion board'

Note: I HAVE NO IDEA how the archive versions would be affected...my guess is that after a few weeks they would be overwritten by a current version with the deletes implemented.

I don't have time to weed through this, but there may be something on this site.

Jeff,
We would all be benefitted if you were able to determine where (if any where) any kind of defamation (slander/libel) civil charge resulted in a successful award to the plaintiff based solely on information posted on a discussion board.

Is the person paying the ISP for the IP address ultimately responsible?
Are we legally obligated NOT to have our local computers 'remember' our passwords since a fraud of identity could be perpetrated by either another physical user or a phishing scheme?

I personally don't believe hair in itself has magical powers, and I don't believe
These speakers use the words "Magic Hair Doctrine" that is a label used by people on the forum who don't believe in uncut hair.

I believe anyone can successfully sue anyone, for anything, said on a message board -assuming you get the right judge and right Texas/Mississippi/South Chicago jury.

Several aspects of the case would involve the Owner of the forum, the parties included in the words in question and those who made post involving any defaming accusations.

Most people do not understand that just because something is true that it cannot be used in a defamation case. I do not want to get involved in giving legal advise on a forum...so this is all I will post about this subject.
