Re: Yearly Bible Reading - B.R.E.A.D - and other s

I believe in reading the bible through from Gen. To Rev. To me the best way is to go from GEN.1:1 and start from there.
Read it through even if it takes more than a year.Do what works for you as long as you read it through.
Audio Bible is great and it does count, because getting the word in you is important.
Wheter you read it yourself or hear it read, getting into the word is what counts.

Has anyone read a chronological Bible? If so, what was that like? Was it easier to read/study? Did you enjoy reading it?

I read my bible yearly. I do use the bread chart, and if it has you jumping around, I use the one I used last year and just mark it a different way than I did the year before. Sometimes I use my old chart numerous times.

Re: Yearly Bible Reading - B.R.E.A.D - and other s

Hi All I am pretty new to the site this is my second post. Well anyways I have used the one year bible several times and one year I attempted to use another one year plan that was divided in seasons but I didn't really enjoy that plan. I have never heard of B.R.E.A.D does anyone have more info on it? I too have the Bible Experience and I enjoy listening to it when I travel with my cousin on long trips we sometimes like to listen to the Bible Experience to pass the time. I highly recommend it.

I found an old BREAD chart online in a pdf format if you want I can post the link. The one from this year starts you at Gen 1, Matt 1 and Psalms (every other day) or something like that. The one online just has one book at a time.

Do you think listening to the bible in an audio format counts?

I am reading my bible through this year and it's weird (in a good way) - its like I'm addicted, or obsessed. I am already done with May according to the BREAD chart but actyally have been using my "90 day" bible. ((Its a bible that you are supposed to read 12 pages each day and you'll have the whole thing read in 90 days)) I've added the NT and Psalms to my daily reading to keep up with the BREAD chart - for accuracy.

It wasnt necessary to purchase this "90 day" bible as there is nothing special about it, it doesnt even break down the days, it's a regular KJV bible with the same # of pages as one of my other bibles...when I discovered this, I started using my NLT bible....

Now, speaking of versions - do you think it matters which version you read? I've found some of them to be TOO vague but I do refer to other versions when I'd like something explained..."The Message" version, actually creeps me out - If you ever get a chance to see it, take a look at Proverbs - I think they took TOO much liberty in their intrepretation with "The Message"...

And about "The Bible Experience"...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my CDs. I try and follow along in my NKJV bible as the CDs are in the New NIV version, it's very close so not too hard to follow.

I dont feel I can "count" it as reading if I only listen - but if I follow along, I count it.

What do you do? If anything?

Does anyone else have The Bible Experience?
Finished my third time last year 2008. Have use the B R E A D program before.
Last year I just started at the front and read 5 chapters a day. This allowed me time to think and study about what I read. I use KJV. As for as a CD, my pastor's wife and I went around and around on this subject. If a person has eyesight problems, or reading problems, etc..., I understand. If a person is traveling a long distance OK. BUT if your using the excuse of I'm walking so I'll listen to my Bible CD in place of reading it then I say NO. It's like walking is first and your just plugging God in so you don't have to take time out of YOUR busy life to SET DOWN and READ HIS WORD.
Now as you said if a person wants to set down with their Bible and follow along while listen to it on CD, I would think it's ok.
Main thing is we make time for everything else in our day, let's have time for the Lord also.

I dont use the audio version to get my bible reading in - I just really enjoy this Bible Experience. Its really done well. I listen in the car on my way to and from work - much better than the radio any day. Its not about "not" taking time out of my busy life, it's just another thing I do in my daily routine that is uplifting and beneficial. I just wondered if anyone else did and "counted" it as reading.
