Re: New Star Trek Movie

Most good stories have the classic good vs. evil, a few twists thrown in, but good triumphs in the end. (IMO, anyway)

That doesn't mean the stories are boring when they're told again with new faces, new names and new uniforms.

If repetition were a problem, the Bible would be in big trouble. Not that I'm comparing Star Trek with the Bible. Just saying.

No, not bored, I'm trying to get my work done and checking the forum out at the same time. I just trying to figure out what Star Trek has to do with Jesus Christ?

I hardly would think that would be the case. I was just asking what Star Trek had to do with the Gospel.

Joseph Campbell's books the The Hero's Journey, and The Hero with a Thousand Faces. Both books explain what you have said very well.

Do you know if this Star Trek movie is teaching anything about the Gospel?

Every Cadet from Star Fleet Acadamy has to be baptized in Jesus name before they can go out and meet space aliens

Excuse me? Was I being sarcastic? I'm serious, I would like to know what this movie has to do with the Gospel? Yes, no, these two words would of speeded up the process don't you think? It's not like trying to root through a Strongs’ Concordance to try and decipher first century common Greek.

Interesting even to you it sounds ridiculous.

Amazing.

I have no idea. I probably won't even watch it. My husband will at some point....

My favorite stories EVER are The Greatest Salesman in the World (I & II), The Greatest Miracle in the World, and The Christ Commission. (Og Mandino)

However, I still love Jane Eyre and Leaves of Grass--they're not really about the Gospel.

The book that most changed my life as a teenager was In His Steps.
