Re: Your Goals, Thoughts & Predictions for 2009
08 was a good year for us as well.......
But if this offends some people I can.....
Predict DOOM AND GLOOM, pestilence and famine, cats and dogs, earthquakes, tidal waves, locusts, the nora virus, and pot holes in the roads! It IS coming!
There, now I feel better!

Here is an even more dire prediction:
The countdown toward total darkness for July 2009! (Based on losing 2 minutes of daylight per day)

I believe that, by this time next year, we will be longing for the "gold old days of 2008."
I predict further weakening of our economy - and our constitution.

Re: Your Goals, Thoughts & Predictions for 2009
This was a good year for us; God blessed us enormously. But I am feeling a bit skittish about the future - just a gut feeling. I'm investing in metals this year; that's my goal. I have started slowly, but it's the direction I'm feeling to go.
Also, I want to sell a piece of real estate and get our house paid off completely. I will feel much better when I'm debt free. Thank the Lord I don't owe on any vehicles.
I am stockpiling some food and water upstairs - things like rice, beans, etc. I don't want to be crazy, but I do want to be prepared.
Churchwise, our offerings and tithing have not been affected in the least by the recession. Eddie preaches that we are refusing to participate in it , so our people are excited about the future. We are looking at a huge building project, but are trying to be wise. So far, we've only done what we can afford to do with cash that we have.
I know, most of all, that God is going to take care of us. But I want to also be WISE.

I predict the Russians will flex thier muscles someplace, brazil will become a major oil producing nation, the Phillipines will become a hot spot, and the Raiders will not make the playoffs again.

Good post. I am reading Dave Ramsey's book "Financial Peace."
Tina and I have been trying very hard to revamp our budget, cutting every nonessential expense possible. We've been stocking nonperishables for quite a while now.
Our goal is to get rid of every debt imaginable. Thankfully, we don't have a lot but, with God's help we won't have any.

Wise people think alike. We've been doing some of these very same things. not the wacky Y2k stuff, but when the handwriting is on the wall in bold red letters, it's time to do something.
I feel sorry for the people who have over charged, over spent, bought all the McMansions and now are at the brink of losing everything.

Re: Your Goals, Thoughts & Predictions for 2009
Using the word, "cut-back", has caused Mrs. Steinway to go into convulsions! I have been stocking any extra money away to help bring us through a year of hard times that I believe are ahead.
2008 was a record year for income for our household. I am bearish on 2009 being as good.
I will be tightening up the stops on my stocks to keep my losses low, and I'll loosen up the stops when I'm riding the upward trends.
I think that we won't start to come out of the recession until next Fall.
The other shoe will drop by the second week in January concerning real estate, as the commercial real estate market comes close to collapse as more and more businesses go under, and their buildings remain vacant.
It will get worse before it gets better!
