It isn't the act of smoking that produces cancer-causing chemicals. The chemicals are ADDED by cigarette manufacturers and I would challenge you to show me where such chemicals are added to cannabis.

Just to clarify here, I am not advocating the use of cannabis. I do, however, believe the government has no constitutional authority to legislate either for or against its use.
If there is another way of obtaining the relief that cannabis supposedly provides without the problems resulting from cannabis intoxication, why shouldn't pharmaceutical companies be allowed to explore them? Hemp makes for an excellent cloth but we're not allowed to produce it in the United States because the government unconstitutionally made it illegal just because some hippies were getting high off the hemp plant. We need to get the government out of the way and let market forces work.
