Even if he turns out to be an "informant", it would have been better for him to have not been involved at all.
I dont know how a JJJR can not be involved. He wanted the job, he had to talk to the Senator.

If he was asked to bribe Blago and then went to the feds then as far as I am concerned JJJR is clean and should be viewed as one of the rare good guys in politics....

That dont mean I would vote for him. He is still a uber-liberal! But if he is honest then I respect that a LOT.

...as opposed to the pristine waters and unadulterated holiness that other politicians swim in? Only now there is going to be mess in Washington? I told myself that I would not get involved in these conversations anymore, but some of what I am reading is incredible. Until we start holding all politicians accountable regardless of what box they check, we will continue to get the same short end we have been getting.
We're sitting here trying to tie Obama in with this bit of tricky politics worth a few hundred thousand of somebody else's money, and the governement just handed out hundreds of billions of our dollars like so many party favors...incredible.

I dont think Obama personally did anything wrong but there is no question that Obama is surrouned by thugs. and it still isnt clear if Rom Emanual is clean in this deal.

and Obama says he didnt have any discussions at all with Blago about the senate seat. That doesnt ring true.

something is fishy here. Not that Obama is guilty of any crime, but that he isnt being truthful about everything.

I personally think he knew Blago was up to no good but turned a blind eye and washed his hands. To me that is both legal and unethical.

nothing to try to do anything about but clearly something that reinforces my natural disdain for Obama and the Chicago Machine he came out of.
I know we'd all like to know everything that went down, but I'd like to remind everyone that this is still an ongoing criminal investigation. Not only that, there's been some discussion that perhaps the charge of selling the seat isn't going to hold up in court due to the vagaries of Illinois law.

I'd personally prefer that the feds get their ducks lined up, and usually, they do, but I've been told that the feds had to move earlier than they wanted due to the Chicago Tribune about to spill the beans.

I read the entire 76-page criminal information and came away with two, no make it three, things: 1) Blago is corrupt as the day is long 2) It's amazing what you can solicit a bribe for (hospital need certificates? whoda thunk it?) and 3) Blago was pretty upset (and profanely so) that Obama was only going to give him "appreciation" for selecting Obama's choice. OH, make it a fourth thing: Blago and his wife both swear like sailors.

Really, if you can get past the obscenities, the criminal information is rather entertaining. Of course, I did spend three years in law school so my idea of "entertaining" is probably exceptionally warped. I'm still waiting for the nitty gritty details of the Madoff Ponzi scheme.

In my opinion (and maybe it's because I grew up in Wisconsin about 50 miles from Chicago and heard stuff like that for as long as I can remember) Chicago politics and the Daley/Chicago Political Machine are particularly "filthy."

I recognize that, but there is plenty of dirty politics to go around. There are plenty of questionable things happening in Washington even today and around the country that is destroying the America we will leave to our children. I realize that some pockets have a reputation of being more brazen with it, but when you dig into most "big politics" it is disgusting.

At the end of the day, I would not hold anyone being from Chicago against them any more than I would hold someone being from Alaska...which also has quite the reputation.

Say it aint so!

Surely the "Barracuda" is completely clean and would have nothing to do with any of the mess in her neck of the ice.
