I respectfully disagree with your new "revelation."
Humpty Dumpty not being put together again implies that that he was once together, not necessarily that he had fallen once before.
You would have to add to the riddle to get that interpretation.

I have done a complete, exhaustive study (lasted about 2 minutes) of the Nursery Rhyme in question and I feel it is my duty, as a defender of truth, to point out some very important fallacies in the above quote.
Fallacy 1:
The word "again" DOES NOT indicate a previous fall by the happless Humpty Dumpty. The context proves that the word "again" is not defined as "another time: once more:anew." Rather the word "AGAIN" means to be "restored to orginal condition". A modern, and more correct, translation of the Nursery Rhyme would be as follows:
Humpty Dumpty was positioned on a permanent upright construction having a length much greater than the thickness and presenting a continuous surface except where pierced by doors, windows, etc.: used for shelter, protection, or privacy, or to subdivide interior space, to support floors, roofs, or the like, to retain earth, to fence in an area, etc..
Humpty Dumpty had a great drop or descend under the force of gravity, as to a lower place through loss or lack of support.
All the king's military accruments and all the king's non-gender exclusive armed forces
Couldn't restore Humpty to his unfallen and, therefore unfractured, orignal condition.
Admittedly, the above modern version does not rhyme, which leads one to the conclusion that the Nursery Rhyme is a coded message of some type (see Fallacy 3):
Fallacy 2:
The Nursery Rhyme in question is "Gender Neutral" To use the words "him" or "he" is nothing more than an assumption. Which leads us to Fallacy 3.
Fallacy 3:
Nothing in the rhyme suggests that Humpty Dumpty was an egg. Further detailed research reveals a rather startling relevation: HUMPTY DUMPTY WAS NOT A LIVING CARBON BASED LIFE FORM AT ALL!
My source: http://www.zelo.com/family/nursery/humpty.asp
I quote:
Quote:
History: From the East Anglia Tourist Board in England:
"Humpty Dumpty was a powerful cannon during the English Civil War (1642-49).
It was mounted on top of the St Mary's at the Wall Church in Colchester defending the city against siege in the summer of 1648. (Although Colchester was a Parliamentarian stronghold, it had been captured by the Royalists and they held it for 11 weeks.) The church tower was hit by the enemy and the top of the tower was blown off, sending "Humpty" tumbling to the ground. Naturally the King's men* tried to mend him but in vain."
* NB: The "men" would have been infantry, and "horses" the cavalry troops.

HUMPTY DUMPTY was a gun.

Re: !!! Humpty Dumpty Had Previously Fallen !!!
You think THATS awesome... you should read about the origins of a lot of the nursery rhymes we think are soooooo innocent. In particluar: "Ring around the roses". First appeared in "Mother Goose" in 1881, but actually dates back to the 1600's and the Plague which killed 70,000 people in London. There are two versions, both of which have sinister connotations:
Ring a-round the roses,
A pocket full of posies,
Achoo! Achoo!
We all fall down!
In this version, the rosies (or rosies) refers to rosy colored rash one would get when they contracted the Plague. An early symptom of the plague.
"Pocket full of posies" refers to the medicine and herbs people carried in their pockets to prevent the plague.
"Achoo! Achoo! We all fall down" are the last sneezes of the person and collapse of one who had died.
Another version (sung in and around London) used the words: "Ashes! Ashes!
We all fall down!"
This refers to the ashes from the burning of the thousands of dead bodies of the victims of Plague that rained down continuously on London.
Gruesome, ain't it?

Re: !!! Humpty Dumpty Had Previously Fallen !!!
Some of it comes from: http://www.zelo.com/family/nursery/humpty.asp. Hey, its raining outside, can't do nothing outdoors. Got things I could be doing in the house or I could be wasting time posting useless info on AFF. Well,....lets see...which do I wanna do? Oh...I'm doin it.
WARNING: The link above has a long list of childrens songs and nursery rhyme, many of which I have never heard. You know how little songs get stuck in you head and you just can't help but sing it? There is one listed (a riddle) that I pray to God doesn't get stuck in my head. It goes like this:
In Spring I look gay,
Decked in comely array,
In Summer more clothing I wear;
When colder it grows,
I fling off my clothes,
And in Winter quite naked appear.
Comment:
This is a riddle. Can you tell me what I am?
Well, can ya?
