These higher bands require either a digital converter--which an areal antenna or rabbit ears plugs into--or for the person wanting tv to subscribe to digital TV service.
If you already have cable tv--nothing changes you are already on digital channels. If not, you need to either get cable or buy one of those converter boxes (at Best buy or where-ever) to plug your rabbit ears and tv into..

Hey, T1, thank for the answer. The reason I am asking actually is because it brought me back to about 20 years ago when RD Whalen was preaching about how the antichrist was going to use fiberoptics so they could keep tabs on every household. Do you remember that? Anyway, can they keep better tabs on us with this stuff?? LOL! It sounds pretty far out but I still have those old tapes in my head and with the economy and Obama and all that, well, I had to ask!

LOL...this really has more to do with a limited number of those lower bands and the fcc/government wanting to reserve them for the future use with fire, ambulance, police, and military communication equipment...than some spy on you stuff....
In reality for many people nothing is changing since they already have cable/digital tv...
I remember the old scare tactic days too...goodness.

I have seen so many lies posted. The best one is the one Triumphant 1 did his best to combat. You know, the hair cutting party thing?
Prominent members of this board chose to believe the lie and even continue to spread it, even though T1 had totally proved it was false.

Yeah, I was just making sure this wasn't what was happening!! LOL!
Do you remember his stories about The Beast in Brussels Belgium? A huge computer that was going to store all our information?
Seriously, I think about these things and the internet. We have no privacy anymore and it's just "normal" to most people!

Re: Digital TV
I live way out in the country and have satellite service. But for local channels I have a 30ft antenna. I switched to digital this week and it was easy. All you do is get a converter box and hook it up between the antenna and the tv. The channels are very clear! I was amazed at how good the picture was. Also, you might be able to pick up a few more channels. I discovered about two or three new channels that were either local weather channels or public access type channels.

The newly available government controlled waves are also the range used to track RFID chips.
THere is a $40 card that you can have sent to you to help pay for the converter box needed if you don't have cable or sat.
