"Many Christians do not try to understand what was written in a verse in the Bible. Instead they approach the passage to prove what they already believe."
I am a three stepper, but I leave all others in God's hands and do not claim to judge their eternal destiny. Jesus gave us the keys to the Kingdom, but he did not give us the keys to of death and hell.

How many on here have followed Acts 2:38, but believe in the one step process? just curious and wondering what influenced their decision.
I have followed the 3 step process. I was first baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost because I was raised in the Baptist Church (I think I was 11 or 12). I was later baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, because I was convinced that it was the correct interpretation of Matt 28. I also later received the baptism of the Holy Ghost (all of this occured when I was 18). For more than 10 years I was a 3 stepper, but the more I studied the book of Romans, the more I became convinced of the concept of justification by faith.
Although I am a one stepper, my family still does all of the three steps.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

I have followed Acts 2:38 and was UPC for 27 years. It was only after I started studying the bible for myself that I changed my mind. I am also the only person in my family that is a one-stepper.

I was baptized in the titles about 13 years ago because I felt I was complying w/ Matthew 28.
About a month later after a coupe bible studies I was Baptized in the Name because I do believe that is what Matthew 28 means and I believe the book of Acts. I was just complying with what the book said and I had no denominational roots....I was actually playing in a heavy metal band at the time(one that has been quite succesful over the years, but I'm exceedingly glad God opened my eyes when he did). I actually had no plans on leaving the band at that point......it was all real new to me. After a few services I knew I needed to. I actually had kinda long hair and a gotee at the time and God still filled me with the Holy Ghost.
I believe in the Oneness of God and Baptism in the Name of Jesus. I don't believe I'm infallable and I'm learning new things all the time, but I do believe in these. I've been studying David Bernards books a lot lately and found them incredibly helpful.
I also don't see book for what the holy rollers are doing.
I was raised in a moderate UPCI church and was raised with the Water/Spirit doctrine.
I left eveything I knew at 18, spent 4 years in the navy, got out, went home, studied for months and months and finally decided that what I had been taught was correct.

It seems to me that this forum is having an influence upon its subscribers. The major influence that I see is that more and more are leaning towards the one stepper beliefs. This poll is set-up for you to respond and declare what you are.
I don't think the forum is really changing anyone.
I think there have been folks who believed a person was saved before water and Spirit baptism but were afraid to admit it --maybe fro fear of reprisal from others, or maybe because they were afraid it was not Scriptural.
Also, some of the more Conservative seem to be absent lately.

Maybe they have disfellowshiped us Sam.
