Re: *SHOCK* Obama Punishes FOX NEWS @ Press Confer
On election night, my brother informed me that the owners of FOX News were also members of the Ku Klux Klan.
He was serious and I corrected him, not based on personal knowledge but based on the preposterousness of the accusation.
I would be shocked if this was true-- really shocked.
I reminded him that FOX was the media outlet that gave the Wayans brothers and Jennifer Lopez their "big breaks".
Sometimes, the FOX news commentators give me the impression that they are racially biased in just some of the stuff they say and how they say it.
Then I remember for a while that every "Amber Alert" that ever appeared on FOX featured a White child. Two or three of them centered out of Florida and it was a bit bizarre because children all over the country go missing every day. And they would broadcast different Amber Alerts throughout the day. They would have these, "This Amber Alert was just issued out of ________ " moments and every one of those I can remember was a White child.
Then every time there was a crime that just happened and was unfolding "live", there was a Black face.
Even their word usage was predictably emotionally charged.
Of course they weren't lying about the missing White child or the Black criminal "on the lose."
Sometimes, like Limbaugh, some of the FOX News commentators prey on fears and they do so in a way that seems racially exploitive.
Many times, when "Conservatives" speak, the way they present their message can be offensive to those who view their world through a different lens.
Another example, it's petty, but when Cavuto was talking about the Obama family moving to the White House, he described it along the lines of, "the enormous lifestyle change." He said so with a wide grin and a smile that could have been taken as sarcasm. I know of folks, if they had been in the room with me when Cavuto had said that, they would have been offended.
Because FOX News already has the reputation-- a reputation I try not to buy into.
I don't believe there is a serious amount of mal-intent on the part of FOX News, but sometimes I have to just turn them off.
Sometimes, I have to turn of MSNBC, but for reasons irrelevant to this discussion.
