How did you go from anything else in this thread, especially anything I said, to making election day a national holiday/day off?

And where did I say it'd be a surprise? I fully expect that we will have a national holiday for/about Obama. I fully support the idea as well. Regardless of what I think of the man (and I'll so very leave that out of this discussion...lol), the United States elected a black man to the most visible and important office in the nation. I do think that's something to be celebrated and observed, the same as MLK Jr Day. It's part of our history.

Mark, you have absolutely no idea what my political leanings are, nor do they have anything to do with this thread, so I'll leave them out of it.

Your news source is questionable. No matter what it was saying, it's questionable. There are questionable news sources on both sides of almost every coin somewhere online. I do my very best to weed through those and find reliable, legitimate sources for information, *and* read between the lines. You're missing that point.

I am making an assumption based on education and information that I have that at some point, we will have a national holiday about this event. But, I don't have a reliable news source to provide for that, it's something we'll have to wait and see about.

(1) It would not be a surprise and I think it is fitting, but I am not sure this should be pursued while he is in office.

(2) Early voting takes addresses the legitimate need to accommodate Americans who need to work on "Election Day."

When I worked at General Electric in Evendale/Cincinnati, Ohio, Election Day was a paid holiday.
