Not that I personally care, but Jindal is converted from Hinduism to Roman Catholicism.
Of course, I realize being a Catholic is probably still not good enough for a lot of neocons.
But hey, the Republican party is in pretty bad shape right now - to pick up the pieces, they are going to have to quit pandering to the radical religious right.
And hey, I'm sure they can assign a Truth Squad to him so he doesn't backslide into Hinduism again.
Well, I guess we disagree. The reason there was limited success in this election is precisely because they abandoned the party base early on by nominating a moderate John McCain.
And I would have great difficulty in voting for a Muslim or Hindu...

Now, Obama could fall on his face but really, the economy has nowhere to go but up.
I think Barack Obama will be as unbeatable in 2012 as John F. Kennedy would have been in 1964.
If the Republican National Committee is smart (I wonder) and if Jindal is smart (I believe he is) then the GOP will save their up and coming shining star for 2016.
Interesting thoughts, Tim. I have no idea what will happen in 2012. A lot of responsibility comes with running a government from top to bottom. Voter's are going to expect results and will want tangible things on the economy that they can see and feel. The problem with that is that there isn't a single economist who can really tell us what the next move is or where a real bottom is. It's hard to fix a problem when you're not sure exactly the paramters of it. Maybe the economy goes down from here. I haven't found many that will say they feel like we've hit the bottom.
Now, if BO can end Iraq and get us out of that mistake, then maybe that'll buy him some time on other issues, but right now he's banking on a very shaky economy, IMO. I'd say his popularity in '12 is anything but certain.
Bobby Jindal is very talented and will be a fun guy to watch ascend. Of course, who knows what the Republican party will look like in 4 years. They are going to have decide what they really stand for and where they go from here. The base of religious voters isn't going to win elections from now on. They can mail that strategy in. It barely worked in 2004, and it worked by 500 votes in 2000. They're going to have re-evaluate how they win elections other than pandering to evangelicals, because that isn't producing great results for them.

President Elect Obama will not fix the economy. He will preside over the Second Great Depression. Why? Because they are doing the same things that caused and prolonged the Great Depression. History is repeating itself. The Government printing presses are busy printing more money and that causes deflation in value. We are headed for very bad times. But God is good!

Up is all it ever did have to go, even under McCain. Dems were as much to blame...they just have more control over what the media tells us.
And they didn't get us out of Iraq as promised...why? They vote spending bills and Bush approves and Bush gets blamed for our debt...why?
I haven't read all the posts, but man, you know like I know that every time the Dems spoke of trying to reduce the funding for the war it was met with stiff opposition from the Repubs and the President.
Besides, drawing the troops out improperly was never a viable solution for a lasting peace over there anyway. Most folks realize that, even the Dems.

Totally agree.

The WAR is not the only reason for our debt. Our dept was growing fast before the war.
BTW the same DEMS said when they gained power in the last election they would bring our troops home.
About drawing our troops out...exactly, but the Dems have made this their platform and the fact is a long as we are there there will have to be spending.

Crud! That's just great....I already have to deal with Indian telemarketers I have no clue of what they are saying and tech help that is no help because I can't understand them and now we are gonna have an Indian run for office and nobody will understand him either? lol J/K
LOL Bobby Jindal sounds just like a good ole southern boy. I think he was born in Baton Rouge.
He came to our church several months ago. He might be Catholic, but he sounds like a Bapticostal.
I was hoping Louisiana could keep him a little longer, but it looks like he might be destined for greater things.
I think that we all agree that the general media is not in the bag for the GOP. That's why I look at any in depth coverage of the GOP with interest. I honestly think that their almost unanimous portrayal of Palin as the de facto candidate for 2012 is strategic because I honestly don't think she has any chance of winning a general election as things stand. I predict that they will continue to do this to the detriment of the GOP, and so that having them field any other viable candidate will be difficult.
